7 reviewsThis is an excellent B&B. It is situated at the edge of the historical quarter of Matera in a beautiful 19th-century house which has recently been renovated. There are 5 rooms on the 3rd floor (there is a lift), four of which have a view of the Sassi. Prices vary according to whether, apart from the shower, you also want a bath. We had a very nice spacious room and bathroom with a view of the Sassi and a monastery. It was very quiet and well isolated. The room had all the mod cons and a small fridge with (free) drinks. Breakfast was a delight (after the rather meager breakfasts we had had in some other B&B’s) : a buffet with fresh fruit, cheeses and salamis, very tasty cakes , etc. We chose to have the car put in a private garage (€ 15 a day, and € 5 for taking and bringing the car to the hotel), which spared us the hassle of looking for a parking space. During our 4-day stay we only needed it once, to go to the marvellous “La Cripta del Peccato originale”, which lies outside Matera. We found the “staff” very helpful and friendly. This was definitely the best B&B we stayed in during our holiday in September.
