Piedigrotta

While traveling from Greece to Germany through Italy by car this summer we had to overnight somewhere in Italy. Our choice of Mantova was good relating to arrival time of the ferry in Ancona and the distance. Trying to limit our expenses we thought, my wife and myself, that for the price of 35 euros, breakfast included, that would be something middle class but appropriate for the night. However the choice of this hotel was indeed a most pleasant surprise. The comfort and facilities that we found in Piedigrotta Affitacamere were indeed analogous for a higher class hotel. The building is old which explains the large and high room and spacious bathroom all in a renovated condition and very clean. Another advantage was that there is a restaurant-pizzeria in the ground floor of the hotel which, although it creates no noise for the rooms, is helpful for a tired traveler. The breakfast is offered ready in packed boxes in the room with a coffee-tea machine. The only disadvantage is that the owners speak only Italian. We had to use Englsh and French to make ourselves understood. But the personnel, mainly the Seniora in charge, did their best to help.
