Meridiana

The hotel was recommended on the website of the diving center we wanted to go to. So we booked a room for one week. The hotel is conveniently located as for the dive center (Spiro Sub) as for the rest of Marina di Campo. We did all by foot, although getting to the far end took us 25 minutes. If you don't want to walk, the hotel has (very basic) bicycles to use for free. The room was very clean, airy and very nicely decorated in blue hues as was the bathroom. There is enough storing space in the room and a practical rail on the balcony for drying bathing suits without having to compromise on sitting space. We enjoyed idling on the balcony very much watching all passers by be it on foot, bike or scooter. Usually I don't fancy air-cons due to the noise but this one could be set on silent mode which really was silent. The food in the small restaurant is simple but oh so very delicious. If you don't want the hassle of having to search for another place to eat (we really had some problems to find tables in other restaurants for the same evening), one could eat all the week in the little restaurant and not be bored. As to the breakfast, it was the only downside. We were always pressed for time due to the early hour we had to be at the diving center. When we arrived for breakfast at 7.30h they just started to bring the food to the served buffet. So we always took first the self-service stuff like crispbread, fruit and yoghurt and if we still had time went for the pancakes, brioches and other yummy things that were served by the staff and took some time also because of the queueing. The owners and all the staff are very helpful and friendly, they couldn't do better. If we return to Elba, without any hesitation we would choose the Meridiana again.
