Vecchia Fattoria

Contrary to the experience of the previous reviewers (no crticism intended) my built in bog-standard iphone satnav took us right to the hotel. The hotel is very special indeed. Although principally a restaurant-pizzeria (there are actually only four bedrooms) the hotel is still a focus for the management. The bedrooms are very clean and the bathrooms are very nice indeed. I'd say the bathrooms themselves were fitted out in the last year or so. The staff are genuinely friendly and helpful. Breakfast (extra €8) excellent and well worth it. Good coffee ( a locally roasted brand, Elena, I think), fruit, bread rolls, jam, yoghurt and sweet pastry. Presentation of breakfast is also special. A lot of care is taken in this place. The restaurant is very good with an extensive menu and drinks list. I don't want to encourage the owners to put their prices up, but the prices were very reasonable. This place is the only hotel in the immediate area and the go-to restaurant for locals as well as holiday makers. Speaking of holiday makers, we didn't see too many of them. The hotel sits atop a ridge high over a valley. The views from the roof are incredible. There was a hornets' nest in a chimney up there, but they ignored us. There is an ironically named solarium on the rooftop which comprises some lovely hammock affairs. We can't recommend this place strongly enough. Straight as an arrow too, in my view. I left my iphone on the table. A quarter of an hour later a waiter brought it to me. Speaks volumes. We slept in room 1, which overlooked the restaurant and a vineyard. Room 4 overlooks the valley. However our room was fine. I guess you could request the valley view if you wished. Rooms at the front do sense the restaurant (outside) on busy eveings, but their are shutters and blinds, so it didn't bother us. We will return.
