Hotel Duchessa Isabella Collection by GSA Hotels

This is luxury accommodation in a beautifully renovated 16th or 17th C palazzo at very reasonably tariff. The hotel is in a convenient location a 15 minute walk from the Castello Estenese and Duomo. The furniture in the public spaces is high quality antiques. I especially noted the stair landing with three "grandfather"clocks. The dining rooms for prima colazione are of an elegance that I suspect was carried over from its former life as a palazzo di una famiglia importante. My room on the top floor was done in rather feminine style and had its own little spiral staircase up to it's dormer window with views over gardens behind the hotel. It was extremely comfortable and tranquil. The staff at reception were engaging and charming. They were able to direct me one morning to a are school supply shop where I was able to purchase two of the flattish and spacious briefcases that Italian primary and middle school pupils use for thir books and supplies instead of too heavy back packs. I have only seen these in Italy. The staff had to do some research and they did it quite well. I would not hesitate to recommend Duchessa Usabella Hotel to anyone with discerning taste who is visiting Ferrara
