278 reviewsMy wife and I spent 3 very enjoyable days and nights at Il Giardino delle Aloe. It was late August 2017, peak season for Italians as they leave the north and head south for their summer vacations. We stayed in a regular room with west-facing covered patio and a view toward the hilltop monastery. It was very peaceful and quiet. We enjoyed relaxed breakfasts, and after cycling to the island's grottos would inevitably return late afternoon for aperitivo and dinner at Aloe's al fresco restaurant. The wines, salads and tuna steak with pistachio all great. More than the food, it was the atmosphere at night that pulled you in - relaxed and engaging dining. The manageress was always warm and courteous, and the staff particularly warm and friendly. We felt like part of the family. I would have been happy to stay longer had we not pre-booked another more upmarket accommodation (Il Baglio sull'Acqua - ridiculously overpriced, poor and impersonal service from management, and added prices for every little service that should have been free!) on the island. At Aloe it seemed nothing was too much trouble for the staff to help satisfy our needs. For the price and service I would heartily recommend Il Giardino delle Aloe to any traveller - single, couple or family group. Their lush garden a rarity on Favignana. I hope to return soon!
