La Tensa is a cluster of small stone residences lovingly converted into a small agriturismo-type hotel, enjoying an excellent location above Domodossola with enviable mountain views. Despite its slightly remote location, it is well worth the 20 minute drive up the basic forested road/track [we did spot a deer once]. We basically fell in love with this place, now firmly in our family's 'one of the best placed we ever stayed in' category. Fabio, who at the time of our visit managed the residences proved very helpful, whilst Francesca and her husband Ivan, who manage the well- worth-it osteria style restaurant (offering great regional dishes and wines), were welcoming and very friendly, as were their support staff, including Rocco Marco. Realistically, any drawbacks? Lack of ACs [we were there in August] and the poor state of parts of the road up [though this is due for resurfacing in late 2024]. Breakfast, if good, was a bit basic/continental. But don't let this put you off, La Tensa is well worth considering, offering character, charm and genuine hospitality that are hard to find. Prices also fair. Finally - would we ever go back? Senza Dubbio!
