Albergo Regina

After driving through the amazingly beautiful Italian Alps, a smaller road meandered along a little river and between tall trees, leading us to what seemed forgotten villages. We arrived at a hotel, situated on a bit of a ledge above a fast rushing stream, offering a very picturesque view. The business started as a restaurant in 1989 and then, in the 90s the hotel was added. For a hotel functioning for about 20 years, it is very clean and in very good nick. Our room was spacious, with double aspect, up the valley and on the river; with clean bathroom and clean towels and linen. One bad thing was the pillow, which was as hard as a brick. The room décor and the whole aspect of the place is quite dated and the restaurant especially have quite a communist era look, but I think that gives it character and its own specific feel. The breakfast had quite a few continental products: croissants, yoghurts, cold meats and cheese, all served as buffet. We also had dinner in the hotel's restaurant and the homemade dishes were simple, but tasty Italian dishes with good local wine.
