Residence Villa Maria

We stayed for one week in the Villa Maria hotel in Desenzano; two females, sharing a twin room. This is an older hotel, typical Italian style, in the suburbs, clean and the staff were excellent. Nothing was too much trouble and they went out of their way to be helpful even to the point of replacing a mattress on one of the twin beds at the request of my friend. Every person we encountered was professional and helpful. The breakfast was good,not a huge selection but everything that we wanted was available. There is a supermarket close by. There is a 20 minute walk to the port where there is a good selection of eateries. This was probably the only down side, the walk to and from the centre of everything. The pool at the hotel was lovely, with a life guard present. On one of the days we noticed towels on the sun beds, no one appeared to use them but guests turned up late on the day to retrieve them. This is my pet hate, but not the hotel's fault. There were enough beds available for anyone wanting to use them. We had a lovely stay and I would recommend this hotel.
