Dimoramuri B&b

This B&B with only a few units is ideally situated for walking to the Via Etna and all the major historical sites in Catania. We stayed in the "Passion" room on the second floor with very good sleeping accommodation for a couple or two friends or a couple with a child. We had a very big balcony with a table and chairs for sitting outside.The bathroom had new and better quality plumbing than the other really nice hotels we had stayed at earlier on our Globus coach tour. Breakfasts included very good baked goods, fruit, coffee, boiled eggs. We stayed 3 nights. When you arrive, your taxi driver may have difficulty finding the place. Via San Vito is a fairly small one-way street and there is no big sign saying "Dimoramuri B&B". You need to find number 34 and ring the doorbell at a big steel door that looks almost like a garage door or entrance to a sealed-off courtyard. You will be buzzed inside and then discover your host beckoning you through her inside steel gate and then the entrance to the B&B by the most complex skeleton key I have ever seen. The entrance is very secure. 3 keys to get into the B&B and then another key to your room. Very impressive security. Our room was very quiet even though we had the big balcony on the Via San Vito side. Besides being so clean, new, and welcoming, it's the location that really blew us away. Our host made at least 3 recommendations for restaurants and we were happy with them all. It is such an easy walk to Via Etna, the Benedictine Monastery/University, the Castello Ursini, and lovely shops for buying silver and gold jewellery. And the gelato and other treats are an easy walk away down Via Etna. Don't miss the WWII museum at "Museo Storica dello Sbarco in Sicilia 1943". When you leave, the airport is a 20 euro easy drive by taxi arranged by your host. We had to leave at 5 am to catch an early flight to Rome so our host gave us a breakfast tray and coffee thermos the night before. Wow, we were impressed.
