14 reviewsIt was a blessing to find Convento La Perla! We were in Carrara to meet a sculptor friend and stayed four days. It's a little hard to find but the directions were good. After passing through a gate you climb to the top of a hill-overlooking Carrara and the Sea. Fabulous! We were greeted by Kerstin and chatted for a bit before walking through the main room with 14th century frescoes on the walls and ceiling-wow! Our room was on the top floor (they have two on the 1st floor and 2 on the second). Lovely, with a nice shared bath-which we did not have to share. We had breakfast on the terrace most days. There are several separate areas with tables if you want privacy. We have a b and b ourselves and always wondered why so many people didn't leave during the day-now we know. We spent our third day just relaxing and enjoying the views. Breakfasts were wonderful and Kerstin was warm and friendly. At night, for the first time ever I saw fireflies-they were like magic! Convento La Perla-magical.
