Hotel Villa Giulia

I always look at the previous reviews before booking. What do you look for in a hotel when you venture abroad? I would say, a good bed, good towels, hot water and people who look after you. Let's face it, a hotel is where you lay your head at the end of the day, awaiting the adventures of the following day, not necessarily eating in the hotel every night - nothing wrong with their food but hey! get out and enjoy the local food and wine. Having said all that the Villa Giulia did not let us down - we had a comfortable bed, more than our share of really good towels and hot water whenever required - I credit Marina with this. She was a joyously cheerful person, eager to please and also improve her English. In reception Martina was endlessly patient with my halting Italian and at mealtimes Flavia was the best. Having said that, what about Andrea? I don't think he ever slept - he was the life and soul of the party in the bar and equally cheerful at breakfast. People like these are worth gold to a hotel and its reputation. There is a fantastic pool here and the hotel beach concession is great with its soft sand and kind sea - if you want to keep fit and avoid parking fees, it is only a 15 minute walk away. So did they let us down? No. Were we happy? Yes. Any complaints? Only one and it was not earth shattering - why did we run out of plain yoghourt? there is a Co-op down the road..........
