B&B Mia Majon

I thought I booked a bed & breakfast place - instead I arrived 'home'. That is how I felt from the moment the door opened and I was welcomed in. What a charming place! Thoughtfully appointed throughout. The location could not be more perfect if you are hitting the slopes. A bit away from the busy main road, but only a 5 minute walk to the base gondola. My room was chalet-charming, with a balcony and view of the majestic Dolomiti. I don't believe there is a bad room in the house. I had plenty of room to store my items. I enjoyed having a small seating area to put my laptop and stuff on when I chose to catch up with the outside world. I really appreciated the tea kettle and teas! Bed was comfy and I loved using the shutters to black out my room at night; made it very quiet, too. Now the highlight: the breakfast! Wow. Fresh, locally sourced throughout Fassa Valley and so well prepared. There is always something both sweet and savory to eat. Baked goods were exceptional, and mostly homemade. I generally do not drink coffee but I did indulge in oat latte every day. I so enjoyed my breakfast and breakfast time in general that several days I was 'late' to skiing and loved every minute of it. Note: There are no meats or fish served on premises. Which I didn't realize until I was told 3 days into my stay so I clearly did not mind. (I eat everything). I encourage you to stay here even if this is not your jam. There are plenty of places in Canazei to indulge in a variety of foods for lunch and dinner, so give a vegetarian breakfast a try. The quality of food served at Mia Majon is exceptional. I appreciated that the decor throughout Mia Majon is very natural and sourced locally. I could tell the owners put a lot of thought and care into it, yet kept it simple so as not to overwhelm. It most definitely beats the cookie-cutter hotel aesthetic that I am used to; no tacky mountain-themed stuff either. Some practical stuff: * there is a secure ski/board/bike storage area and a boot room with boot warmers (yay). * I recommend bringing indoor shoes or slides to wear inside. * There is a public indoor swimming pool 2 min walk away. * I got a very heavenly massage in the quiet room, that also can serve as a yoga or stretching room. Take advantage of it. * It is an easy walk to the center of town, go the back way instead of the main road. * Free parking on premises. Now the best part: the people. They genuinely care about your comfort and happiness and strike the right note between caring and giving you space. I felt like truly being at home and I bet anyone would feel at home here, too. I did not remember to leave this review until now - because I am about to book my next stay at Mia Majon.
