Terre di Himera

This was one of our favorite stays and memories during our two weeks in Sicily. Terre di Himera is situated in the hills, overlooking the mountains on the most gorgeous and lush farmlands. We were SO sad to have only stayed one night! Our room was like a beautiful stone cottage with wood features and a very comfortable bed. We had all of the snacks, water, and coffee we could need. Our room came with a private Jacuzzi and outdoor shower. We were so relaxed and comfortable watching all of the birds swoop through sunset around the mountains. Now, this deserves a paragraph all of its own…THE DINNER! My GOODNESS. I wept actual tears at the table and my husband just kept cackling in absolute dumbstruck, awestruck glory at how INCREDIBLE the food was. I typically eat like a bird and this was my Olympic event of a lifetime because I ate every single bite for fear of never having food this good ever again. And all of it from right there on the farm and made by hand with so much love. Then the breakfast came and I was in heaven. Maria made this cake that was to die for! We purchased some of their olive oil that they made, and are kicking ourselves for not buying their soaps and shower products because our hair and skin never felt better. Maria and Fabrizio were the most wonderful, warm, and welcoming hosts and we thank them for their hospitality and the best food we have ever had in our lives! I hope to return some day. This is an absolute must-do if you ever have the chance!
