70 reviewsI stayed at Tenuta Camillo recently on three different occasions while traveling for family-related matters in the vicinity of Milano. As I do that pretty often I have tried out many other hotels, residences and B&B in the area, trying to privilege those that provide self-catering facilities; however, I found most of them either too large and anonymous, or too small and lacking any privacy. Here, I must say that I have really hit the sweet spot. Tenuta Camillo is a restructured farmhouse situated in the middle of crop fields a few minutes from the major motorway junction of Melegnano, an unsuspected oasis of quiet broken quaintly (and only occasionally) by the farm animals. The last couple of kilometers of the access road are pretty twisted and narrow, so drivers should stop at the side on the curb when crossing another car (as locals mostly do). Respect to the stuffy, hot summer weather of Milano, I've found the place far nicer and cooler; however, this is the Pianura Padana so expect mosquitoes in the summer evenings. The main rooms (about six of them in total) are located on the ground floor and are easily accessible even for people who have difficulty walking, the parking being on the same level just outside the gate, in a secluded corner. They are spacious and very comfortably furnished with all standard amenities. I especially liked the enormous double-headed shower, which appears to be meant for two to take it together, but independently (!). Unfortunately I had no opportunity to sample the food served by the restaurant (described elsewhere as legendary), except for breakfast which I found tasty and abundant, not standard buffet-style but with different cakes or sweets every time. There is a large common kitchen with gas fires, microwave and a large fridge (in addition to every room’s mini-units) and a small but complete selection of implements and cutlery. A convenient 24/7 Carrefour supermarket is located a few kilometers away, in Vizzolo Predabissi. The real plus of the place for me is however the warm welcome given by the owners, their family and the staff, who on every occasion were very kind and considerate, offering their help and trying to satisfy our various requests. I will go back to Tenuta Camillo whenever possible, and I certainly recommend it as a staying place out of the ordinary in the crowded, but oh so boring landscape of traveler accommodations around Milano.
