98 reviewsWell Macedonia has our hearts and without really knowing what to expect has exceeded and delivered a wonderful holiday. We stayed in Hotel Sileks which is in a town next to Orhid in Sv Stefan. The hotel was clean, and the rooms spacious, the bed comfortable and the shower powerful. We stayed Bed and Breakfast which was lovely. Don't expect a full English, this is Macedonia, but there was an acceptable amount of meat, eggs, sweet treats and fruit on offer. The staff were attentive but it's much more chilled here so don't be afraid to ask for things, everyone is more than happy to help. The hotel is right on the lake which is beautiful. We went to a variety of lake side bars for lunch which were lovely. Some of the usual burgers and pizzas available but also a selection of traditional Macedonian foods. We also had lunch in the hotel on one occasion and it was delicious. The hotel is a short taxi ride to Ohrid centre that costs 300MKD or €5. This is so cheap. We ate in Ohrid every night and had some fabulous dishes, again some standard holiday meals but mostly Macedonian food which we loved. I would highly recommend North Macedonia to anyone looking to seriously unwind and relax. The Hotel Sileks also a little piece of Macedonian magic and worth a visit. A beautiful place with a wonderful history, stunning architecture and a real passion for their heritage.
