A massive thank you to Gavin and another kind gentleman who helped my daughter when she had a flat tyre the other day. Glad to see chivalry is not dead after all.

The staff were amazing! Even though the building was old, I didn't mind as it felt authentic and provided a nice town experience. Everything was great, and the staff were very polite. The breakfast was excellent, and there was a fantastic live music experience!

Lovely welcoming staff, nice spacious clean rooms. Food and drink was amazing. Thank you for our great stay, we would definitely visit again on our travels to the beautiful City of York. 

Friendly atmosphere on arrival. Only wish we could stay longer. 

The young lady serving at the bar was very friendly.  Excellent service.  I would most definitely/certainly return.  Yorkshire is always very pleasant to visit. I will come back.  I am trying to fill the two hundred characters.  We will be back for Christmas

Just returned home from a 2 nights stay ,Scott and his team were lovely ,very friendly and couldn't do enough for us . Breakfast was cooked to order and was delicious both mornings .  Our room was large with very comfortable beds along with everything you needed ,coffee  tea toiletries  and also a  hairdryer if needed .

Lovely friendly B&B stayed a few times and always made welcome. All staff Lovely and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Great location short walk to Minster. Lots of bars and resturants near by. Would definitely recommend staying here in future

Stayed at the White Horse on a weekend away with my Sisters-in-law.  Staff were very welcoming and made us feel immediately at home.  The pub is very well situated, close to the city wall and in easy walking distance of the city centre with all it's attractions.  Functions in the evening included a Karaoke (Fri) and a disco (Sat).  
Breakfast was included in the price and was freshly cooked to order, those with special dietary requirements and fussy eaters were happily catered for!  Nothing was too much trouble throughout our stay and we would not hesitate to stay there again.

The rooms are above a pub, in a convenient location. They are alongside the York art gallery and a very short walk to the Minster. There are a number of pubs and restaurants within a short walk as you would expect. The White Horse is only around 10 minutes walk from the station on well lit busy streets. I arrived at the hotel about an hour before official check-in time, but the staff were very friendly and managed to get my room ready early while I settled down with an excellent pint (good choice of beers and hand-pulls). Food was also available, but I didn't try any. However, if it is as the good as the breakfast next day, then there should not be any complaints.The room was at the top of a flight of stairs, so be careful if you have very heavy bags. However, although it was a little tired, it was very clean, large, comfortable and warm.There was no noticeable noise from the pub or the traffic.The tea and coffee tray was well stocked, and there was plenty of storage space in the stand alone wardrobe and a separate cupboard.Despite a gap in the window, the bathroom was very warm and there were no problems with the shower. There was even a bath!Breakfast next morning was excellent, with cereals to start and a choice of simple cooked breakfasts to follow. I chose the large, but despite cancelling the toast and baked beans, it still kept me going until the evening.I will consider staying again the next time that I am in York, as the experience was excellent value

Great value, great location!

We arrived at 2:15 PM and everywhere was closed we had to knock on the window to get into the room.we had room 5 which was nice.we had a full english breakfast which was lovely.we stayed 3 nights and for the price I thought was reasonable the white horse is close to all sights.
Would i return YES absolutely 

City break 

We recently stayed here, the accommodation was ideal,we had a 2day break, it was close to the train station 10 min walk, our room was above the white horse pub but there was no noise in the evening it was quiet we had a lovely Outlook of the square and gardens,it was a 2-3 star hotel,ibut it clean,comfortable,with all the amenities and complimentary toiletries.it also included a cooked breakfast which was lovely, The staff was so friendly welcoming,and nothing was too much trouble, will definitely go back here again,a great stay thankyou very much 😀

The hotel gave us a warm welcome, gave all relevant information and offered to help with bags to the room and showed us upstairs.  Lady said if need any extra towels, tea, coffee, or biscuits just ask.  Super drawer space and wardrobe with ample hangers.  Towels on bed with toiletries.    Good idea to have side door so don't need to go through bar everytime.  Beds very comfy and very clean.  Towels changed daily.  Breakfast 9-10 but can do from 8am.  Mainly cooked breakfast, but fruit and croissants/toast available- again great value for money and lots of cooked options cooked to order.  When we wanted to check out little later it was fine to leave bags.   On one night open mic in bar but quiet by 10pm.  Rooms can be bit noisy as on main junction and pubs have music nearby but if shut window I fell asleep and light sleeper.

Welcoming and very well situated

My boyfriend and I had a perfect two night stay here at the beginning of January- cannot fault anything whatsoever. We stayed in a deluxe double room on the top floor. The room was beautiful, super warm and cozy and exceptionally clean. The bed was massive and very comfortable. The staff were absolutely exceptional, everyone was incredibly welcoming and could not do enough for you. The pub itself is lovely. 

Next time we come to York for a couple of nights we will definitely be booking this hotel again if it’s available. We’ve stayed at a few different hotels in York preciously but this is our favourite by a mile. Location is very central and it’s not too far from the train station. The staff also looked after our luggage for us once we’d checked out which was super helpful.

The best place to stay in York

We stayed here for 2 nights 9th & 10th December. Great central location. The room was a great size, lovely & clean. The bed was huge & amazingly comfortable. We only had breakfast one of the days but was really good. Staff were very nice a special mention to James who was really friendly thank you for our shots on our last night. Will defo look at staying there again maybe do a summer trip next time.

Great weekend away!

The room was decent enough, but the walls were quite thin.  I could hear people talking in the office next to our room as well as the live music that was going on downstairs.   Glad it was only one singer/acoustic.    However, the staff was amazing, food was good snd reasonable and the pub walking distance to everything.   I would definitely stay again

Great location within strolling distance of the Minster and The Shambles and just behind the Art Gallery.  Family  run and friendly, comfortable beds and spacious room. This characterful hotel has all the quirks of an old building, winding stairs, bedroom fireplaces etc. We did wonder whether it would be noisy as it is on a road junction, however the well-fitted double glazing did a great job and we slept really well. We had a nightcap in the bar, a very welcoming ‘local’. At the moment the hotel doesn’t do food. However there are many cafes and restaurants nearby and a small late night Sainsbury for snacks etc. A great place to stay for a shopping/ sightseeing trip to York
