Absolutely amazing accommodation. Well equipped apartment with microwave, toaster, kettle, cooker, washer/dryer, dishwasher, living space, bedroom and bathroom. Bed was suoer comfy. No noise from the wind outside through the walls or windows and very very peaceful with increible views

Excellent luxury accommodation. Good sized room with full kitchen facilities, lounge and terrific sea view over to Orkney. Comfortable king size bed. Modern bathroom. JOG signpost right outside. There is also a cafe next door where you could have breakfast if you did not want to do your own in room. Easy to get food supplies at Thurso or Wick before you arrive.

The location is spectacular! We stayed in the northstar room which was lovely. Room was simple and clean. Bed was comfortable. 

The managers were lovely and so helpful. They changed the bedding from feather to hypoallergenic for us without question. 

Provided white company soaps and shampoo, which was a lovely surprise. 

All round lovely experience. Would go back

Another fabulous stay. Visited last Easter for 5 nights and rebooked for Easter this year for 7 night. Lodge is absolutely fab. A real home from home. They  are very spacious with central heating,  log burner in livingroom (logs provided for arrival) and we purchased more from Castletown for the remainder of our stay. Washing machine with tumble dryer really is a bonus as you never know what the weather will be like. Cannot recommend these lodges enough. Fantastic base to explore the Highlands (wick, thurso, Castletown, Dunnet head, duncansbay stacks).  Lodges are well equipped with hoover, ironing board, dishwasher, coffee machine etc.  Basically.... keep your lodge clean and empty the bins and recycle (clearly stated on the lodge info) bin bags etc are provided. Read a few negative comments about bed not being changed and no cleaner....these lodges are not hotels! They are self contained self catering lodges that will be deep cleaned on check out. We really look forever to our next stay (all being well [October) .

We booked direct as we wished to be near the sign and access to ferries. This provided both of those. We were using public transport so we bussed it from Inverness to Thurso then had to wait for the town bus. Be careful as weekend bus services are very intermittent or not at all. We had to book a cab to get back to Thurso on Sunday. So if you have a car this won't be an issue. The accommodation is great. The room we had was basic but good. Wi-fi, TV and there is a cafe and the brewery close if you want to eat and drink. There are family cabins. The ferry is minutes away and there are lots of walks locally. Lots of natural beauty and wildlife. 

We have recently spent 3 nights in the Jan de Groote suite here. It was an absolutely amazing experience. The space was brilliant- downstairs there was a spacious sitting/ eating room with sea views from most windows. A fully equipped kitchen, with oven, hob, dishwasher, microwave, a espresso machine etc meant we could eat in which was handy given the small number of local eateries around. A well equipped bathroom with waterfall shower was also on the ground floor. It was all so cosy and quiet.
But it was upstairs that really shone for us- the biggest, comfiest super king bed from where you could see and hear the sea all around. The huge copper bath was so relaxing, to be able to lie in it and watch the waves in complete peace and privacy was just amazing. The high ceilings were mesmerising to look at, and at night the only sounds were the wind and the waves.
We left feeling thoroughly refreshed, after lots of long walks along the coast. It really is the perfect space to recharge. There are a fair few steps up to the suite and then up,to the bedroom, but if mobility is not an issue then I do not hesitate to recommend it.

What can I say, the lodge was wonderful, it contained everything you could need.  Very comfortable bed.  Only a minute walk to the lovely selection of shops and cafe, John O’Groats sign and passenger ferry to Orkney/Wildlife Cruises.
Our food hamper had been cancelled by the new manager, which we were not aware of until we had passed the supermarket (20 mins drive away) so had no food until the morning.  Apparently Together Travel had tried to ring us but we had no missed calls 🤨
We did have an issue with the boiler and a water leak.  We had to physically go and find someone as the phone numbers given to contact the manager don’t work.  The outgoing manager stated that she didn’t use the mobile and the land line to the office (which wouldn’t connect) is a waste of time as she stated she never goes in the office??  Once we had her private number things got sorted.
The cleaners do need to take a bit more care as the table, island and chopping board had dried food on them and under the sofa hadn’t been hoovered.  I cleaned it myself on arrival.
Despite these few issues, it was the most wonderful place to stay and can’t wait to return.  Already missing the sea view and wonderful sunsets.

Stayed in the one bed apartment in the yellow toft which had amazing views of the sea while still feeling private from passers-by. Room had everything we needed for a few days and was very comfortable, the staff that were there were very helpful.

That’s what you’re paying for at these luxurious lodges. 
Lodge 21 has amazing views of the ocean, the greens and privacy too.
The lodge is done up very aesthetically. Subtle colors, grey brick wall as a highlight, the chair with the tiny Scottish wrap/blanket, The living area and open kitchen are very spacious. The kitchen has all modern gadgets. The 2 smaller bedrooms a little claustrophobic as per Indian luxury standards. But then it’s a lodge. 
This is your place to escape for your me time! Loved it. Gud for 5 nights which we were there for! 
The staff is helpful, and checked on everyone during the storm Otto and made everyone comfortable. 
Fab find!! Would love to revisit again.

Really lovely lodge, clean, comfortable, modern and tranquil. Pet friendly, fantastic location & scenery. Worth it to visit 8 Doors distillery practically next door. Highly recommend and will definitely be back

AMAZING!

The Views! The peace! The serenity!

The lodge was fantastic. It was spotless and the beds were super comfy. We will miss the lovely views of the sea. The manager Stephanie was very helpful and she went out of her way to make us happy, she even offered to go to a supermarket for us as we arrived late on Sunday.  Unfortunately a member of the group was hit by a car and although he wasn’t badly hurt Stephanie was one of the first people to head over. She did so even though it was her day off and didn’t happen on the site. She called an ambulance to check him out and the police. I highly recommend visiting the John O’Groats Together Travel site!

Gorgeous Surroundings and a Lovely Lodge!

 loved the full aspect windows looking out towards the ocean; beautiful setting, short walk to the gift shops, coffee shop, restaurant. very friendly.  only downside there is only one convenience store near by but stocks are very limited.  There is a tesco on en-route I would suggest you stop off first.

absolute praise to the team at The Inn at John O Groats

From booking our stay and some questions I had being answered almost immediately by Stephanie our stay was phenomenal. I suffer from severe anxiety and going to new places scares the life out of me but Stephanie (who doesn’t know this) made me feel completely at ease about coming for our visit. This continued throughout our stay.

When we arrived we followed all the instructions and got to our Studio apartment with no issues at all. The room was outstanding. Absolutely spotless and had everything we needed for our stay. We had booked for three nights but loved it so much we wanted to stay longer.

I cheekily emailed Stephanie (after hours!) and again she replied immediately and found us a room for an extra two nights.
She was again very accommodating and answered all my questions even though it was gone 10pm!  We were able to transfer to our new room the next morning and the girls were fantastic and helped us move our belongings to our new room.

While we were there the weather was fantastic and extremely warm but the team still worked their socks off! 

Our new room was again outstanding, spotlessly clean and for our visit had everything we needed (if it was a family though a bigger fridge/freezer would have been needed for a self catering stay)

I am a smoker and possibly saw more than some guests would but Stephanie never stops some nights I saw her helping guests very late at night (midnight on one occasion), early in the morning and keeping positive, friendly and helpful throughout. NOTHING was too much trouble for her or her team.  

We had a few trips planned and had some great recommendations from the team (we missed the chocolate shop!). They were always extremely busy but took time to speak to us. This makes a holiday more special for us when staff make us feel welcome. Sometimes these types of accommodation can be soulless but the Inn definitely is not and that’s purely down to Stephanie and her team.

If I had a teeny tiny thing it would be a cigarette bin to be added so people can put their own cigs in it. The team work so hard without having to pick up other peoples cig ends, I often saw a few out the front but they were cleaned away quickly. I personally put mine in the bin others are not so thoughtful! 

I feel we are very quick to criticise in the uk but personally I feel praise is so important to make people feel valued and this wee team definitely deserves to be praised for all their hard work, Stephanie in particular because without a rest team lead teams don’t work! That lady works her socks off almost 24/7 and I feel she should receive some sort of recompense for her sheer dedication to your company.
