Beautiful weekend stay at Newbiggin Hall, Ulverston. Lovely farmhouse, lovely hostess who made us the most stunning breakfast and delicious hot scones. Yummy! Ulverston was a fabulous place too and an ideal setting for our short train journey across the bay to Cartmel Races. Highly recommend following in our footsteps on this one!  ❤️☀️😎

I had the pleasure of staying at this B&B just outside the tranquil Ulverston. It would be no exaggeration to say that I had the best night's sleep I've ever had. The 4 poster bed was super comfortable, it was almost silent (unheard of in London) and the view over the mountains was stunning.
It was a such a treat to meet Avril. She is a wonderful lady and has a very kind soul. I would go back just to sit with her and enjoy the peace and quiet. 
The breakfast was delicious as was the home made Swiss Roll that I had upon arrival.
I couldn't recommend this B&B more. It has a good location (10 mins to the centre & the train station). If you don't drive you can get a taxi to Ulverston for about £6. I would definitely come back here to get away from the hustle and bustle of any city.

I doubt there is any B and B hostess more hospitable than Avril. Breakfast comes with a view of the Ulverstone monument, and is delicious. I thought twice about ordering sausages--but these are great sausages, so I suggest embracing them, along with bacon, two eggs, mushrooms. Actually, it was so good I regretted not having Hash Browns or Fried Bread. Next time..Fruit Salad marvellous, likewise Coffee. Highly recommended. When you get to the lane that the B and B is on (which is first left after the crossroads) then keep going to the very end.

Homely and hospitable in a beautiful location with fantastic views. I stayed in the room with the four poster bed, the window seat and the rocking chair - a lovely place to sit and read if the weather's bad, but even then the view from that window is amazing.  Avril gives a very warm welcome and the breakfasts are impressive.

If you are looking for a spa based break with fine dining and cocktails to match then you are on the wrong page , Avril offers good wholesome value for money farmhouse accomodation and tops it off with first class teas and breakfasts that she lovingly prepares on her aga . The difference between many similar b&bs in the area is simply the owner - Avril. Thoughtful , helpful and considerate to try and meet all of your needs should you have any special requirements. We've just spent 2 days with her whilst we enjoyed cartmel races and ulverston - she was fabulous ... The farm is right on the Cumbrian way - ideal as a base for any walkers or those like us that want to enjoy some quiet after the races - the views are great the welcome is more than warm .. Give it a try and make sure you ask for black pudding on your breakfast it's delicious
