Riverside Lodge Gardens

Very nice and attentive owner. It is very cozy and clean and the river is just passing by the garden - perfect for a morning walk. The breakfast was delicious and varied with lots of details. There is space for parking a vehicle and a Restaurant is just over the street. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Colin was an amazing host ..the room was roomy and very clean and extremely cosy - the breakfast was served with a smile and amazing offering for such a small B&B beautiful place to stay wish we could stay longer the views from the garden were beautiful - thank you Colin

We didn’t actually stay here but between our walking tour company and luggage transfer company there was a mix up.  A lovely gentleman from Riverside very kindly and graciously delivered our bags about 1km up the road to our actual BnB.  Thank you!

The rooms were lovely, on the ground floor of the property. The host Colin was very helpful in recommending local restaurants and was very friendly. He gave us a lift to the starting point for our walk along the Great Glen Way the next day. The breakfast was delicious, starting with a lovely bowl of fresh fruit, then a cooked breakfast. All in all a lovely place and we would definitely return.

Spotless and spacious room, fabulous breakfast, and Colin seems to provide a pretty comprehensive taxi service for his guests! I was on a solo walking trip and couldn’t have been made more welcome. Recommended.

Ideal location in this small pretty village. The B&B banks on to the river side. Colin & Sandra were very welcoming & friendly - offering advice & help. The rooms are clean, comfortable & have all the necessaries. Breakfast was lovely - the best scrambled eggs I've had in a long time. If walking - Colin kindly takes you back to your start position from the day before. Had a lovely nights stay

We had one night in the beautifully kept B&B.  Our room was comfortable overlooking the garden and river/stream. Colin served a wonderful breakfast and drove us down to Gairlochy to continue on our Great Glen Way walk to Inverness. I would highly recommend this B&B.

..set in its own grounds of mature trees and lovely lawn this is an excellent place to stay..Colin was our host - and driver from the Great Glen Way - and was very good with his tasks of looking after 6 very different adults..the rooms were warm and comfortable, everything was clean..the breakfast was hearty and tasty, perfect for a 12 mile walk the following day..

This Cozy B&B was comfortable and accommodating.  Room was clean and spacious.  Had a perfects night sleep after our walk along the Great Glenn Way.  Our host was very helpful finding a place for dinner (there are only 2 in town)  We ate at the old station which was delicious.  Breakfast was hot and plentiful.  Overall a great stop on our way.

Recommend staying here!

Lovely room for myself, my sister and a friend on the ground floor. Very comfortable, clean and equipped with tea/coffee etc. The bathroom had a good shower and was fresh and clean. 
Super breakfast prepared by Colin. He was happy to advise on dining options and things to do and see in the area. 
Lovely garden by the riverside. Parking available at the front door.

Lovely B&B in the heart of Spean Bridge.
Colin was our host and was great on welcome and throughout our stay. Rooms were super clean and well appointed - only issue we had was a creaky mattress on the bed! The house is set on beautiful grounds above the River Spean. 
We went to the Old Station for dinner - it is only 5 minutes walk - nice cosy bar/restaurant. 
Colin looked after us with a hearty breakfast in the morning and also took us to Gairlochy to resume our trek on the Great Glen Way.

Stay on GGW

I stayed a night at the Riverside Lodge Gardens B&B in Gairlochy-Spaen Bridge last year when I was hiking the Great Glen Way. The Riverside Lodge Gardens was not as convenient to the GGW as most of the other lodgings where I stayed during my hike because it was located several (four) miles from the actual trail. That would have been an inconvenient distance at the end of a day's hike except for the very convenient pick-up and transfer provided by the B&B owners who met me right at the Gairlochy Locks and drove me to the B&B returning me back to the trail in the morning. A very welcome and appreciated service!
The Riverside Lodge Gardens is situated on the banks of one of the local rivers and while the front yards and gardens are very carefully landscaped and maintained - quite attractive -, the back yard stretching to the river has been left to run wild and natural back to the river.
The Riverside Lodge Gardens is close to the restaurant(s) and facilities of Spaen Bridge which are just a one block stroll down the shady lane.

All of the rooms in the Riverside Lodge Gardens B&B are on the ground floor. (Only the breakfast room is located on the 2nd floor.) I had Room "T" situated in the back right corner of the B&B with a view towards the river which is down the bank and out of sight. The room had two comfortable twin beds (with white duvets and a total of 4 pillows and 7 throws).There were two night stands with lights, a small dresser, 2 barrel-back overstuffed chairs, a large wardrobe closet with two poles and "good" hangers, and a small TV in the corner. A coffee urn/kettle  was provided along with coffee fixings including decaf coffee, and bottled water. There was an overhead light (with the switch by the door to the room) and several available electrical outlets (via a power strip). The radiator in the room did not appear to be working or operable.
The bathroom was quite roomy with a large shower with fancy multiple shower heads. It had a nice slate floor and a heated towel rack with plush towels and face cloths. No bar soap was provided.
The Riverside Lodge Gardens was a very nice place to stay and I enjoyed my visit there.

Perfect Rest At End of a Walking Day

The room was clean and comfortable. The towels were huge and soft.
The best part of my stay was the breakfast though. It started with a beautiful fresh fruit plate and then a freshly cooked hot breakfast. It was more than I could eat and all very tasty.
After breakfast, Colin was nice enough to drive me back to the GGW. (I had walked it the day before and didn’t enjoy dodging the cars.)

Great Breakfast 

This the second time Mary and I have stayed at Riverside Lodge Gardens, the first being back in 2014. When we knocked on the door Colin, recognizing us right away, asked almost immediately, "When was it you stayed with us before?" We felt right at home and the place was as much a delight as on our first stay. Just the physical layout of the grounds will take your breath away. The grounds were once part of a large estate -- the Manor House is still present and lived in -- and some of the trees that surround the B&B are amazing in their beauty and longevity. Our room was roomy but cozy, nicely decorated, wall-to-wall carpeting (great for doing our morning yoga stretches) with a comfortable bed and loveseat. And the bath could have doubled as a Roman bath, complete with double sinks, a large shower cubicle and "classical" period busts. Absolutely grand!! Colin is an exceptional host and a fine server come breakfast time, vigorously taking notes on what you want or don't want included with your full Scottish cooked breakfast. Oh!! And he also has the best recommendations for where to eat dinner in Spean Bridge. Hope to stay a third time. Thank you, Colin.
