Spindlewood Lodges

The setting of these lodges is just beautiful. I've never stayed anywhere so quiet, a buzzing light aircraft every 2 hours or so the only man mad noise. We went with our dog, and he loved being walked around the grounds, and appreciated the small run area where he could be off lead. The lodge itself is very pine!, but exceptionally clean and the kitchen had everything we needed. We had family staying over one night and the owners were more than happy so bring over extra bedding. Suzanne even did a walk round on the Sunday night to speak to all the guests. 
We spent our time visiting Street, Glastonbury and Wells - all really easy to drive to, and a pub, the Crossways is an easy walk.
I'm missing the quiet already!!

We stayed here in Aug 22, in the heatwave, absolutely scorching but helped us to just sit back and relax - and this was the ideal place to do so. 
We got lucky this week as there were hardly any other guests so we seemed to have the whole place to ourselves! we had our dog with us too, so we were restricted on what we could do as its was 30+ degrees so couldn't take him out to local sites as it was just too hot, but we and the kids just chilled out, the scenery is amazing, as are the local walks, couldn't get enough of it the area is just stunning. There was a pub a the top of the road but although welcoming and a nice 'bar' it was more of a wedding type place rather than a 'pub' and I like a 'local pub' over places like this, the chef was off sick too so no food so we had one drink there the whole stay, two other local pubs were both closed for a refurb which was a shame. 
One thing we did do is visit Shepton Mallet Prison, wow this place was amazing, we all absolutely loved it (Kids too ages 10 & 12) it worth every penny and was huge, loads of history and still thinking about it now a week later!
Locals all friendly and the owners are lovely, very helpful, the lodge was spotless on arrival, we all slept well and there was sufficient plates / cutlery etc, many of which were brand new along with the oven etc, they have really made this place nice. I think the photos on Hoeseasons dont do it justice!
Fridge was a little small for a family of 4 (Especially when the parents like cold beer) so it meant daily trips to get food in for dinner but it wasnt far to go and made us go out! we also went to the Lido at Shepton Mallet which was pretty cool and worth going to. We had a great time and hope to return at some point! Thank you to the owners! Sadly no chickens on site as they'd had a visit by a fox the previous week which was sad to hear the kids were upset not to see them!

A beautiful quiet location with views towards Glastonbury Tor. Lovely lodge, comfortable and well equipped with everything you could need. Sandra text us and allowed us to go into the lodge earlier than our 5pm entry time, which was very kind of her.
We had lodge 5. It was super clean, cosy and comfortable. Fast WiFi (rare for a lodge) 
Great grass area outside the lodge, with a verandah. We sat outside reading and enjoying the warm October sunshine. So peaceful. We were very lucky with the weather. 
We visited Wells, with lovely shops and the cathedral. 
Would definitely recommend. 

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Spindlewood Lodges. We were in lodge 5 with a lovely view over Glastonbury Tor and found the lodge spacious and comfortable. It was spotlessly clean and we found the settees and bed very comfortable. We make our own porridge in the morning, so either a measuring jug or kitchen scales would have been useful, but we managed without. We loved watching the chickens' antics and were lucky enough to see some green woodpeckers. Relaxing on the veranda watching the sunset was lovely. I would definitely recommend Spindlewood and we hope to visit again next year.

We have just left spindlewood lodges and have fallen in love with everything about the place. We loved it so much we plan to return again in a month or so with our son.

Our trip comprised of a mix of business & pleasure. A few days relaxing after several stressful weeks at work before we travelled to a trade fair. The lodge & surroundings delivered on every level. 
Close to pubs, Glastonbury & shops. Lots of beautiful walks & plenty of peace and quiet. If you love wildlife you will be in heaven as we saw woodpeckers, squirrels & the owners have a very cute cheeky bunch of chickens who visited daily. 

I would have loved the opertunity to have brought some of the hens eggs or maybe a breakfast package containing local produce.Mayne this could be an optional extra?. 
We only met the owners once but they were very friendly. We can't wait to return again. 

This is definitely my new favourite place.

A lovely clean cabin/chalet usually for a family of four but lovely for just the two of us.  Had everything we needed and an unexpected view of Glastonbury Tor with a huge sky.  A group of roaming chickens who would call round regularly and try to get in were highly amusing and full of personality.  Loads of space between cabins and a huge space in front too with a communal ping-pong and badminton area (plus a firepit if you like that sort of thing).  Massive Tesco in Shepton Mallet if you need to stock up on food but some folk had deliveries!  People who ran the place were lovely and practically invisible.  Great covid safety.

Sandra and Tony are wonderful hosts. The lodges are spotless with everything you need provided.
Beautiful secluded location with a view towards Glastonbury tor. Easy access to so many places it makes an excellent base from which to explore or a haven in which to unwind and,  as they live close by you can always catch them should you need anything. 
Access to the site is down a narrow windy road, typical of the area.
You will  also be greeted by the welcoming committee upon arrival who are very persistent in their demands for any spare titbits of food you may have!  Don't worry, they go back to their hen house at night! 😁
 
I really cannot recommend this little gem highly enough and will hopefully visit it again.

We are a family of 4; 2 adults and 2 kids (11 & 13). Spindlewood Lodges are an ideal location for anyone who wants to chill and/or get away from the stresses of normal day to day life.
The lodges are well equipped and clean with great views. The owners are lovely and very helpful. 
There is a nice pub within walking distance and you’re a short drive away from some great tourist attractions(Glastonbury Tor, Wookey Hole, Cheddar Gorge etc.)

This was our second visit but definitely not our last!

If you want to get away from city life like I did then this is the perfect place. The log cabin was clean and tidy and really cosy in the evening. Kids loved running in the open fields and spending time with the chickens which pass the cabin every so often. Will definitely be visiting again.

Our family (2 adults, a lively 7 year old boy and an equally lively dog) stayed in lodge 1 for 4 nights at the beginning of October.   
The lodges are all nicely spaced apart from each other and separated by a border of trees so that privacy is assured.  The setting is simply beautiful, tranquil and perfect for relaxation.  You can see Glastonbury Tor from the field which adds to the magical feel of the place.
The owner, Sandra, phoned us in the morning to say that our lodge was sanitised as per Covid regulations and that we could come any time.  This was a very nice personal touch as the information we had received from Hoeseasons was that we wouldn’t be able to check in till 5pm.  We had a long journey from Pembrokeshire, but if we had lived closer, it would have meant that we could have started our holiday earlier.  The personal touch is evident throughout Spindlewood Lodges.  From the bag of goodies left for us in the kitchen to the owner giving us some eggs from their chickens just before we left, the owners are friendly yet not at all intrusive.  
The lodge itself was beautiful.  Immaculate and surprisingly spacious, it had absolutely everything you needed for a holiday.  There was an enclosed area for our dog to go outside.  There are very well maintained and grassy areas to walk around.  There’s even a little area of woodland with a picnic bench which our little boy loved.  Chickens wander about freely which is just lovely.  It’s a haven for wildlife. 
Excellent Wi-fi connection. 
We had a wonderful time and we want to return as soon as we can.

We stayed in Lodge 4 and although there are a couple of gripes with the lodge (will explain later) this is a cracking place to stay. Great view over the massive lawn to take in over a glass of cyder on the veranda. Well equipped Lodge with .......wait for this......WiFi that actually works. So many are advertised but disapoint on arrival. There is an outdoor table tennis table, badminton Court with rackets/bats provided. Great for a bit of fun. Oh and how could I forget the chickens. Made the mistake of feeding them a few cornflakes.......little buggers remembered this and actually came running when they spotted us on the veranda.  Very friendly, hilarious fun.

I would totally recommend this place but would like to point out a couple of issues that hopefully the owners will read and rectify.

1. Fridge it too small unless you don't plan on cooking. There was only three of us and we had it rammed with not a lot.

2. Shower over bath which is great. Hinged plastic shower screen that has been glued to the bath. Not so great if you actually want a bath as you can reach neither the plug or the taps without actually getting in the bath.

3. There is also a shower curtain held up by two very ugly blocks of wood nailed to the walls. 

4. Light for shaving mirror doesn't work.
