Our fourth stay at Mulley’s cottage and this time we opted to self-cater in “Foxgloves “ which was excellent accommodation , but we still had the option to have breakfast on any day we wished. We really enjoy our stays and meeting Maddie again and always look to stay here when visiting this part of the Suffolk coast.

This place is awesome! Madelaine made us feel welcome right from the start. Excellent food and she even sorted out a moth trapping session.  Lots of help with places to visit for our bird watching hobby.  We had our evening meals outside the cabin in the sunshine nearly every night.  We saw Nightjars too, not seen them before so this was a bonus.  If you want to relax this is the place to go, quiet and beautiful, and so were the gardens.

I stayed in Meadowsweet at Mulley’s Cottage. A beautiful and spacious room which also had a comfortable sofa for relaxing on. Madeline is a superb host and her breakfasts were delicious. She was so lovely to chat to and very knowledgeable about the area. There are two great pubs in the village which are a very short walk away. Southwold was my favourite place by the sea but there were so many places to visit close by I felt spoilt for choice. I would not hesitate to stay here if I came back to Suffolk for another stay. 

We stay at Mulley's Cottage at least once a year - it's perfectly placed for Minsmere and other nearby nature reserves. Madeleine is a fabulous host and her breakfasts are delicious! The rooms are well-equipped and very comfortable. Meadowsweet and The Cabin have their own patio areas surrounded by flowers (the garden is wonderful) whereas Foxgloves offers a more tree canopy feel. Can't wait to return.

The accommodation was in Meadowsweet an impressive barn conversion very light and spacious with a comfortable king sized bed looking out onto a field of daisies! The outside area had a comfortable sitting area amidst a garden full of roses Madeleine was a very welcoming host  and cooked a fabulous breakfast


This beautiful cottage sits in a superb location for bird watching, nature and sightseeing. I aim to go at least once a year and love it. Lovely rooms, great breakfasts and a warm welcome from Maddy. 

Very pleasant stay in a spacious room with lots of extras such as fridge and microwave to make things easy.  Very comfortable bed and an excellent breakfast provided with plenty of choice.  The property is close to several areas of interest and there are two pubs in the village for those who want to eat locally in the evening.

First class accommodation and Maddie is a lovely host,she was very helpful and does a great breakfast .Nice pubs in the village in walking distance, and a good base to explore a beautiful part of the country. Would definitely go back again hopefully one day

Everything! Madeleine is the best host ever. Very helpful and super knowledgeable about the area. Beautiful and spacious room with bags of character. Gorgeous property. Easy parking within walking distance. Lovely breakfast each morning sat with other guests. Plenty of choice, all beautifully prepared.

This was our second visit to Mulley’s Cottage and it was just as amazing as the first. We explored more of the local area and found so many delights. Our favourites were Dunwich beach with a perfect circular walk, Minsmere nature reserve and Walberswick for a swim in the sea!

We stayed in the Meadowsweet room which was clean, cool in the hot weather and had everything we needed. 

Maddie once again made the best breakfast! We opted for pancakes most mornings as they were irresistible. She really does go the extra mile and it was such a personable and welcoming service.

We will definitely be returning!

The most humble stay

Our week at Mulley’s was part of a special birthday gift, and the main idea was that it would serve well as being close to Minsmere, where we intended spending the bulk of our week.  We hadn’t realised at first, but Mill Road takes you straight to the entrance to Minsmere, just half a mile away.
We stayed in The Cabin, snug but cosy, and had everything we needed. I thought the ‘dining area’ meant the dining room where we enjoyed breakfast, but there is a small foldaway table and two stools in the room with a small selection of breakfast cereal and condiments, together with crockery and cutlery. It’s amazing how well equipped the room is without feeling at all cluttered. Madeleine has made really good use of the space. The ensuite is small but had enough space and a lovely shower, which was a real treat every morning. The bed was comfortable, and the garden area was a very relaxing place to sit and read, have coffee or just watch the different birds and insects attracted to Madeleine’s beautiful garden.
Breakfasts were delicious, a very good selection of cereals, fruits, and a hearty cooked breakfast. We met some lovely people around the breakfast table and enjoyed swapping stories about places we’d visited, which was a useful guide.
Westleton itself is a beautiful village. We chose not to visit The Crown, but ate out at The White Horse which was very popular, even on a Tuesday night. There is a small shop and a cosy tea room called ‘The Snug’, which are owned and run by a friendly family. They make interesting cakes (I had a rhubarb and custard cake which was very nice), and they also do waffles as well as light lunches. There is additional seating in the garden at the back of the property. Westleton is a lovely place to walk around. It has a fascinating history, connected with Dunwich, a tranquil pond in the middle of the village, heathland and a children’s play area. Westleton Heath itself is a lot larger than we first appreciated, spread out over a wide area. St Peter’s church is thatched and we met the young vicar, Tim, while out walking on the Sunday evening, who – along with others in the church – was very welcoming.
But the best bit about Mulley’s is without doubt its host, the wonderful Madeleine. She is such a lovely lady, and made our stay. She is genuinely interested in all her guests and has a keen interest in birds herself. We went hoping to have a lovely holiday but we also met a lovely new friend. Can’t wait for a return visit!

Wonderful host, gorgeous cottage, lovely friendly village, and Minsmere almost on the doorstep!

We stayed in the Cabin for thee nights, the smallest of the rooms available. Although small, it isn't at all cramped and is extremely well planned and well thought out. It is very clean and comfortable. Breakfasts were terrific, a wide choice, freshly prepared and delicious. Served in the host's lovely kitchen/diner it also gave us the chance to meet and socialise with the other guests. It was our first visit but it won't be the last
