Whitsand Bay Hotel

Exquisite victorian building, heavenly cliffside location, spa and heated pool, wonderful service and high quality food ,all at an affordable price ,whether for guests staying there or visitors dropping in to enjoy the bar or restaurant for drinks,snacks, cream teas,lunch or dinner:the wonderful Whitsand Bay Hotel, is no more. Sadly it was obvious it was on borrowed time ,as right beside its magnificent driveway, huge sections of the beautiful cliff were being gouged out to build a monstrous multilayered development of houses and flats in a style totally incongrous and unsympathetic to this beautiful coastal location - holiday homes for the very rich and privileged.The resulting waste was dumped perilously in huge heaps above the hotel.This constructing after several years is still incomplete.Clearly this unique family business could not survive this prolonged onslaught. Thus I am deeply saddened that myself and family,including dogs,no longer can enjoy this jewel of a hotel, locals and visitors alike have been deprived of its excellent facilties, many have lost their jobs in a area with few employment opportunities, and a hardworking family have seen the fruits of year's of labour dissolve before their eyes. Too late now , but the question must be asked and an investigation ought to be carried out ,as to how planning was ever agreed in the supposedly protected and beautiful Rame Peninsula.
