Bed comfortable, staff were amazing, couldn’t do enough for us and breakfast was one of the best I have had for a long time. Great place to stay.

I read the reviews of this hotel after booking and was a bit apprehensive but this hotel is clearly under new management. Staff so helpful and friendly breakfast was really tasty with fresh locally sources produce and I had the mixed grill in the evening (my go to meal), AMAZING! If I ever visit the IoW again I would happily stay at the Prince of Wales.

Literally across the street from the Osborne House.  The rooms are named after the children of Queen Victoria, which was fun.  Pub has good food both for the breakfast and other meals.

Building does look shabby on the outside., but the interior and the room l had was modern clean and well maintained. The staff are friendly and the breakfast was excellent.

This is a very authentic hotel/pub. A bit dated but we enjoyed it. The staff were very friendly, breakfast was good - full English :-) coffee tasty! And the best if you travel by bus from Ryde the bus stop is direct in front of the pub door! The hotel is as well very close to the Osborne House.

We enjoyed our stay at the Prince of Wales.  The staff was friendly and accommodating.  The room was comfortable and the breakfast was delicious.  The bus stop was right outside the doors and very convenient.  We look forward to visiting again!

The full english breakfast was delicious and the staff were wonderful.  If I come back to the Isle of Wight I would stay there again!

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Prince of Wales was so convenient to Osborne House and walkable! Buses too were very convenient (bus stops in the front)! It is clean and charming!

We have stayed at The Prince Of Wales before,It is now under new management and they are making great improvements. The facilities are good and moving toward excellent.Very helpful staff,very good value, plenty of parking. We will be staying there again, as this is convenient for us whilst on the I.O.W

The breakfast was really good, our room whilst small was comfortable enough and most importantly clean. I was pleased that the shower had decent power and warm water. The room was quiet, although on a Saturday night you have to accept that a pub with entertainment is going to have some noise and the drag queen was very good and finished at a reasonable time). 
Location is great, we got the No.5 bus from Newport (15mins and literally stops at the pub door!) and literally cross the road to Osborne House. Evening food is not available but they recommended the Victoria Tavern which did tasty food with friendly service about 15mins walk away.
A few things we would suggest for improving is teaspoons in the room and it to be clear that the pub is actually closed until 3pm in the week, rather than just this being the check in time. This is totally on us for not getting in touch, but we did try to leave our bags around 1130 before going to Carisbrooke Castle (understanding we wouldnt get to go to our room) but it was locked up. Not their fault, but something to be aware of if you want to do the same.


Victorian Pub, comfortable enough

Me and my partner stayed for the weekend. Upon arrival we didn't realise it was on a main road. But as we went inside and was shown to our room we were pleasantly surprised as we couldn't hear the road to our relief. The room was clean and nice and the bathroom was the same. The only bad thing I would say is the shower was too small. Me and my partner are both small but it was very cramped. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. And the breakfeast was ok. I would go back as we did enjoy our stay.

Five minute drive from the ferry terminal, opposite entrance to Osborne House. Its a pub with rooms, interesting historic building. Staff were all friendly,  room was really nice, spotlessly clean. We were on the top floor in a bit of a heatwave so it was quite hot but they had opened all the windows and set a fan going.  Breakfast was nice. Car park to the side. Would stay again 

Nice stay

Ideal location for our planned visit to osbourne House.Friendly welcome from Rhys(opologies if wrong spelling) who explained everything clearly and offered recommendations for local food. Bedroom very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was ok but not brilliant but service was friendly and quick. This place is in an excellent location for driving anywhere in the island of you are driving.

Good location and friendly.

Prince of Wales exceeded expectations.  We had the Prince Arthur room, which was on the top floor. A solid location and even though it was the weekend,  it was relatively quiet. Shower worked well. This was our first full English Breakfast. We liked everything served, except for the blood pudding.  We tasted it and it was good, but still not something we liked. The location is perfect for Osborne House and other parts of the island via the bus system.  Went to Carisbrooke Castle and Yarmouth Castle.

My Perfect Prince

Very comfortable,newly renovated and decorated bedroom...tea, coffee and biscuits in the room...great shower with plenty of hot water.. you can control the room temperature to suit your requirements... Breakfast was the best I've had for ages...full list of items are available and you can choose your own combination....great sausages, bacon, tomatoes mushrooms, beans, fried egg etc and the best black pudding I've eaten in years !!! Served with toast butter coffee and tea... Helpful lovely staff  ..nothing was too much trouble....We will be staying again soon l hope...thank you all for a great stay...Howard & Christine

Our stay .

This was very cheap compared to other places we looked at. It is certainly not 5 star (3 star on the blurb) but the rooms are clean and comfortable and the showers nice and hot. Full English breakfast will set you up for the day.  The location is excellent. The bus stop is literally outside the pub and the buses run to East Cowes one way and Newport or Ryde the other way. This obviously means that you will get traffic noise at night but the buses stop running after about 12 midnight so not too much of a problem. 

The bar itself is like an old fashioned bar used to be. Don't expect anything too fancy but the staff were very helpful and friendly, There is a nice pub garden to use if weather is good, as it was when we were there, 

The bus service on the I o W is second to none...just buy a rover type ticket (ours was £16 for 48 hours) and you can pretty much cover the island! You are also within spitting distance of Osborne House. In fine weather you could spend most of the day at Osborne House, there is so much to see and plenty of room for s picnic on the private beach. In the evening we got a bus to E Cowes, took a  a short walk to the chain=link ferry service, then another short walk in to trendy Cowes where you will find lots of boutiquey style shops and many restaurants. The chain link ferry runs till very late..12.30am and the last bus the other side was about 11.50 so you get plenty of time to have a meal and a drink and then be deposited right outside the pub. 

If you want expensive, 5 star modern accommodation.  (no a/c here) try somewhere in Cowes itself but if you want a place to sleep that is clean and comfortable and very down to earth, this is a good place. Make sure you check when the restaurant is open as I think it changes depending on day/covid/weather. We cannot comment on evening meals there as we ate out each day.

Excellent location and price on a very good bus route.

Amazing lunch today. Four of us throughly enjoyed our meals the presentation was brilliant as well as the food can’t fault it at all. 4 very happy and very full people. Great value for money. 
The decor of the pub is currently up and coming and the toilets which is important look great. Very clean and very efficient staff
