Really lovely Inn full of character. Lovely staff and easy check in. Room was clean, comfortable and lots of character. Right in the middle of Rhayader so a nice walk in the evening. Would stay again and recommend 😃

Sunday lunch. We booked the table a few weeks ago and just as well as there was a steady stream of people turned away as they were fully booked. Sunday lunch was beef, turkey or salmon for £12.99. We had beef. Pipping hot and large portions, good selection of veg. Three desserts on the menu, tasty that we tried. Highly recommend. 
Inside, the pub is old fashioned, beams and dark. If that is not your thing go elsewhere. 
Staff were very nice and efficient.
Our bill was ~£60. Excellent value we thought.

We stayed the night of 6th April, as a midway stop between north and south Wales. We arrived pretty late but we’re immediately welcomed and although the kitchens were about to close they prepared three lovely meals, including a vegan meal for myself . Service was excellent. Our rooms were clean and cosy, and breakfast can be had at a nearby cafe. 

Visited twice during our stay in Elan Valley. 
Once for just a drink and then again for Sunday lunch. 
Very cosy and traditional with very friendly and attentive staff.
Choice of Roast Beef or Turkey alongside a reduced regular Menu.
We both had Roast beef which was delicious- beautifully cooked beef and plenty of it, vegetables galore with roast potatoes, new potatoes and mash, broccoli, carrots, red cabbage, leeks in cheese sauce, swede and all topped off with gorgeous gravy and a Yorkshire pudding. 
Great value, nicely presented and wonderfully cooked.
Would definitely return and recommend

After a lovely walk 3 hungry walkers were served delicious meals, by friendly staff
The Covid rules were applied, all dishes were excellent, especially the steak and ale pie...Can’t wait to make a return visit....

The ladies behind the bar allowed us to park our motorcycle in the beer garden, which was a bonus!

Staff absolutely fantastic - room was hot due to radiator on all the time and though turned off, was still on. Opened a window that helped and there was a fan in the room so bearable. Had requested double but got a twin - wasn't that fussed so didn't bother asking if could change. Overall would recommend for sure - location great.

Nice gem of a place and food very good

Fantastic pub with all the charms required. Staff were lovely and friendly and I had one of the best evening meals I have ever had here!Great location close to the Elan valley, quirky little shops and everything you could need for a lovely night away.Downside, there is only pay and display parking a street away & breakfast is served in the bistro also a street away. The rooms are basic and up a flight of stairs but I would still recommend a stay here.

Fantastic Sunday lunch

The perfect location to explore the valley. The team were friendly and helpful. The accommodation needs updating is in a pub, so not great if you go to bed early as it can be a bit noisy, however, if you enjoy a drink and good food until closing time then it's perfect. The food served in the pub was delicious.

Family meal with the dog and we eat in the function room which was nicely laid out and comfortable. We eat here 2 nights one planned and one as we moved on from the sister pub across the road.
one evening they were very busy but food arrived promptly and was excellent. Well cooked and lots of empty plates.
Second night it was OK not as good as the previous night, maybe the head chef had the night off? 
Staff were excellent and attentive. 
Would happily return.

Nice meals

Wow what a meal... we had the hugest hot fish pie with fresh vegetables. The pub was busy on a Saturday night, we’d booked a table as had been advised. The food arrived very quickly. Staff were warm and couldn’t do enough to be helpful. The other meals looked great too. All home cooked, plus the desserts were generous too too.
The atmosphere in the pub was cheery and lively. Love this place. Well done guys!

Home cooked Tasty Meal

The hotel was in a  perfect location, very near the memorial clock.Our twin room was compact and very clean. The mattresses were rather thin and uncomfortable, also the constant noise from the road kept us awake for most of the night. The reason for our choice of hotel was the distance to gigrin farm to watch the red kite feeding - Amazing

In need of decorating or a spruce up. There was mold on the walls and ceiling. Wouldn't take much to make it a really nice room to stay in.
