This place is like a little Oasis of calm and peace to escape to from busy lives- it is like time stops there! We stayed in a silver waterside lodge for the second time and just love this place- we barely saw anyone else the whole weekend. I asking you in the morning to peace and quiet on the lake and sitting with a cuppa while watching the birds is just bliss. 
This time we just stayed mainly on site and had drinks and food and relaxed in the hot tub, but on our previous visit, we visited Flamingo land which was a 5 minute drive, Whitby  and also Go Ape at Dalby, so you can be as busy or quiet as you want. 
We just travelled into Pickering to visit Spice4U, which was delicious so I’d recommend a meal or takeaway there. 
The lodge was clean and had everything we needed.

We stayed at Barker Stakes farm for 4 nights,  self catering.  The accommodation is ideally situated for the  yorkshire moors.  Great childrens play area, and very large areas to walk the dog.  Beds were very comfy, with complimentary toiletries, tea and coffee.  The owners are hands on, and nothing is too much trouble.  The grounds are well maintained and the cabins have everything you need. Would highly recommend 

We have been visiting Barker Stakes farm since 2011 and have stayed in several types of accommodation, our most recent stay was in one of the newly finished cottages in the courtyard, these used to be the b+b rooms but have now been doubled in size and made into self catering units,we can't speak highly enough of the way these have been done,  an excellent job by Steve +Sarah, we spent a week of total relaxation, even the weather was great, well done you two can't wait till next time.

The setting is rural and very quiet. The accommodation is spotless and well fitted out. Everything you need for self catering is there. There was also a hot tub if we wanted to use it. The shower was excellent. we slept well due to the silence and no passing traffic.

Simply beautiful !, the lodge was perfect for our long weekend, hot tub amazing, quiet and so so so relaxing, thanks Steve & Team, we WILL be back !

Just a tranquil place.

The lodges were ideal for us. It’s a peaceful quiet site. Each accommodation is very well equipped and an excellent design for families. We booked two lodges for my mums 80th and it was ideal Hot tub was lovely. Owners are friendly and very helpful.

We have stayed here on two occasions and have had good experiences.Staff are very friendly, accommodation is clean and tidy and family friendly, site is beautiful. Little playground and some animals ( horses, alpacas, chickens, rabbits and guinea pigs).
Good location for visiting flamingo land.
First time we stayed was in three bedroom woodsman. This was perfect accommodation for our family of 4. Second time we stayed was in two bedroom woodsman. This was due to the price increase at the time. We found this too small for our family and was a little disappointed due to staying previously in the 3 bedroom. However no 
Major problems with it apart from the size.
Lots of pros regarding this accommodation as mentioned above.
I do feel it is expensive.  However I would stay again in the 3 bedroom.

Stayed from Friday to Monday and had the best time ever, was immaculately clean with everything you need, and more.
The owners are polite and non intrusive, even though we stayed literally in there back garden.
This was our first visit and will not be our last, we are now looking at booking for Christmas or new year,we have stayed at quite a lot of holiday homes with hot tubs, this one is the best though. Plenty to do in the immediate area and a also a bit further afield.

We have just returned from the most amazing week staying in the Parkside lodge ( 2 adults and 2 children).  The lodge was equipped with everything we needed and more. We couldn't have asked for a better location to explore the local area and if the truth be told everyday we were out exploring all we got asked was when are we going back to the lodge as all the kids wanted to do was play at the playpark and see the animals. the farm and grounds are kept in immaculate condition by the owners and its easy to see they take great pride in the upkeep of the property. We will 100% be returning in the future.

Nice family run accommodation. The lodge was nice and clean. There is lots for the kids to do. My kids loved walking round the grounds and seeing the farm animals in addition to playing in the kids play areas.

We also much appreciated the welcome pack which provides valuable information on local places to visit within Yorkshire.

Family holiday

Have just spent 3 nights here with family. Wow what can i say, best money I've spent for a long time. The lodge was beautiful every thing you need was there, and a lovely hot tub which we enjoyed on a evening. Sitting watching all the wild life in a beautiful landscape. The owner really friendly and have done a great job. Definitely going to book again. Loved all the animals.

Fantastic place

We booked two of the lodges with hot tubs and found them to be excellently equipped and clean, with a high standard of furnishing and loads of space in and around the lodge.
The children enjoyed the football field, the playground and the activity barn. The hot tubs were clean and well kept, so we enjoyed using them.
The site is very convenient for the wide range of activities available in NY and we went on the NYMR, enjoyed a walk from Goathland to Grosmont and visited Flamingo Land.
The only downside for us in the accommodation was that we are used to a 6 foot bed, so the standard double bed seemed very small.

A great place to stay

We combined a family short break and some work undertaken locally, returning to our base at Barker Stakes Farm, regarded by us as our ‘Pickering Home’.
I have stayed in many of the lodges and confirm that Sarah & Steve maintain them in a fantastic condition.
I stay in the smaller lodges when working in the area and cannot recommend enough - this time it was a larger lodge with hit tub.
The market town of Pickering has a volunteer operated steam-train - with a journey to Whitby on its schedule.  A 40 minute car journey takes you to Scarborough and a little further down the coast to the John Bull rock factory at Bridlington, another seaside town.  Heading off in a different direction you will arrive at Malton and if you are keen this route will take you on a countryside journey all the way to Hull  and  The Deep aquatic centre. 40 minutes to York with its history, museums, railway museum and on the outskirts large retail and food outlets,   Passing through Pickering there are many quaint small villages to be explored, from Thornton-le-dale, to Helmsley and on to the famous steep hill, Sutton Bank……. And I almost forgot that you are a 10/15 minute drive from
Flamingoland.
And so much more!!
You can then return home to the peace and tranquility of Barker Stakes Farm - highly recommended 😊
