Great B&B run by a delightful couple where nothing was to much trouble for them. Beware of the enormous breakfast best we have ever had .....lovely views from rear of house .....hope to stay here again some day

Excellent location with beautiful views. The biggest breakfast, not for the feint hearted! Lovely warm welcome from Ed and Dot, nothing too much trouble for them. Very good pub a stones throw away, King Billy, but recommend that you book so as not  to  disappoint if you  wish  to  dine there.

We had a lovely stay at Black Combe House.
We stayed for 2 nights with our 3 kids and my parents.
As has been said on all the previous reviews Dot and Ed where very friendly and we were made to feel very welcome.
The rooms where very clean and comfortable and had views over the nearby fells.
Ed's breakfasts where fantastic and would very much set you up for the day. It was quality produce as well.
The kids where made to feel at home and where loaded up with ice lollies before we headed off in the morning.
We would very much stay there again if we are back in the area.

My husband and I stayed at Black Combe House  for one night. Dot made us very welcome and the room we had  had the most fantastic views of the hills. The room  its self was lovely, clean and comfortable. Dot warned us about Eds rather large breakfast, so we asked for a moderate size one, which I still couldn't finish !!. The location is great, quite but not to far from the local town of Millom.

A nice B&B - not especially exciting from the outside, but an excellent welcome.  The decor is a little dated, but everything worked and it was clean.  The breakfast was excellent - good choice, well cooked and great portions!
The King William pub just up the road served an excellent (truly excellent) steak, but you need to book - it was full midweek on my last visit.
One thing - the Black Combe does not take plastic for payment - cash or cheque only.  Whilst we know the banks rip small businesses off, in this day and age the owners of Black Combe might like to rethink their decision to stop having a chip and pin machine...
