When one of our favourite hotels was fully booked and the other too expensive for our dates, l searched for hotels in Chelsea and found the Sloane Club Apartments. What a find? For the price of a hotel room, a one bed flat recently refurbished to a very high standard, three or four times the size of most hotel rooms within literally 60 seconds walk of Sloane Square. Having lived for a short time in Chelsea many years ago, l was a little concerned about possible noise but silence reigns in Sloane Gardens. It might be an idea to buy something similar as a pied a terre but at the moment we don’t have the necessary £1.5 million or so, so will just have to return from time to time. One slight snag, they twice took the payment for two nights of £1,200 and after this was pointed out, were a little slow to return one payment.
