Great host who put up with us dundee lads topman.a lovely clean pub in great surroundings one minute from the train station terrific beer garden as well.could not fault the staff or the premises and  a pool and darts to boot.its just a pity about the 3pm opening  time as we would have been there earlier  each day

On first impression I was wishing we had booked somewhere else for dinner, walking in  you could see it was very dated and I was unsure where to go and had to find our way down the corridor to the bar. We were then sat in the dining room on our own as the main bar area was full. The staff were super friendly and very attentive however and when the food arrived myself and my partner where gobsmacked, from the decor and the atmosphere you are expending standard or below par pub grub. We order the gammon steaks and we can safely say these are THEE BEST gammon steaks we have had when dining out and my children said it's the best macaroni cheese. 

We will definitely be back.

Convenient location near station. Only a short walk. We visited for a quick drink before our train. Friendly member of staff and a relaxing environment. Nice sofa and a great place to unwind before our journey. Wish we could have spent some more time there. 

Perfect location, near to the rail station, was welcomed by George, the manager (I think) and good around top bloke, he also cooks your meal.

We are pubby type people and this hotel has a pub that is nothing special, although does have plenty locals, and plenty chat, just what we like, the hotel also has a lounge bar with pool table.

Wifi is available but better on the ground floor rooms, we were upstairs so was intermittent, no real issue for us.

The staff are very friendly and will accommodate your requirements.

Most establishments in town open around 2 or 3 in the afternoon, although Duke of Gordon is open at 1100 till 1430 serving hot soup coffees and alcohol.

Now traveling to Aviemore by bus can be a cheap affair or expensive, city link is the most expensive £15 return or Stagecoach £7.50 return if you get the right bus, only one bus to Aviemore and one back on a Sunday, so be prepared, train is £11.50 return, I have a bus pass, so that’s were that information came from

The Silverfjord and it’s wonderful people made my stay in the mountains an effortless one :) 

Despite only booking a single room, the owner upgraded me to a double at no extra cost which made me feel all the more at home!

The location is stunning and within touching distance of everything you would need, from a laundrette to a co-op to a lovely local cafe. It’s also situated right next to the train station with an easy 45 minute commute to the nearest city.

My room was clean and warm and had plenty of storage space. There was a kettle and an abundance of coffee but no fridge, however the staff were more than happy to store my food in the fridge in the kitchen :)

Wifi is good as long as you’re not on the top floor but there is a cosy lounge to sit in and mingle if you’re struggling with signal.

Genuinely couldn’t fault my time here especially for the asking price:) Can’t wait for my next visit upon my return to the mountains!

This is a well positioned hotel only a short distance from the A9 The room we where in could do with new carpets as they are starting to look a bit tired whether this room has been left go a bit as this is where they place people with dogs I don't know.The bar when we returned from the town about 8pm was like the Marie silliest we had to what about ten  minutes before anyone appeared to serve us drinks but when they did they where very friendly and welcoming. We left before breakfast so unable to comment on that. It was an ideal stop over on route and we would use again.

The owner couldn’t have done anymore for us.
Very friendly staff and the room was beautifully appointed with extremely comfortable beds, with chocolates left on our multiple fluffy towels.
The room had a huge tv, kettle, tea and coffee, a very large and clean bathroom.
Also beautiful views of the mountains from the window.
Can highly recommend the dinner and breakfast.
Would definitely stay here again when in the area.



This is my go-to place in kingussie. Delicious tasty home-cooked meals-generous portions, plenty of choice, especially veggie options. Having been to all the possible venues to eat in Kingussie this place still wins hands down on delivery of great food at a reasonable price. Service prompt and friendly too.

An excellent find for an overnight stay. The hotel was very clean and warm and the staff were very friendly. We were are party of 4 and all our meals were excellent and very generous. I would certainly stay here again. Thanks to George and his hard working staff. Please pass on my compliments to the chef.

Another great Hogmanay at the silverjford hotel,George and his staff are fantastic,we have always been well looked after by them,the food is exceptional great tasting and excellent portions also,a lovely cozy hotel and the bar and lounge are really nice to sit and relax with a nice drink.this was our 6 visit to george and we are always made welcome.
Definitely recommend this hotel and it’s food.

Excellent Find

A great hotel

It's located just next to the train station but nonetheless in a quite area off the main road. The staff was lovely and the room was very comfortable. We had a room with a shared bathroom but there was a sink in the room. Breakfast has to be booked separately. The wifi was only available downstairs and did not work in the room.
