The Old Sun Hotel

I will start by saying that currently, The Old Sun feels quite dated and is in need of some cosmetic work. However, this IS in progress and the hospitality offered more than makes up for it. For a very reasonable price we had a last minute deal so we could stop over in Haworth on our way back from a stayin Northumberland. We've loved the village for a long time but after a disappointing visit a few years ago we hadn't been back - one night at The Old Sun was enough to make us fall back in love with the place. The Old Sun is conveniently situated at the 'top' end of Haworth, near the Bronte Parsonage. There is a good sized car park across the road. On arrival, we were shown to our room. A fridge with bottled water is available for guest use which we thought was a lovely touch. The room we stayed in was quirkily decorated in shades of lime green and purple, and from the window there were some views of the Yorkshire countryside. The bed, while extremely low, was very comfortable and I had a great night's sleep. The bathroom was clean and the Mira shower was efficient. Breakfast - well what can I say? This was quite possibly the largest plate of breakfast I have ever had put in front of me. All well cooked and tasty, we ended up with a doggy bag which fuelled us on the way home to Birmingham! The staff at The Old Sun are really lovely; friendly and personable and extremely helpful. A special mention to the adorable boxer dog (Cooper?) whose greeting and waggy tail may have been the highlight of my stay! Thanks to all at The Old Sun - we'll definitely be back either here or the Old Silent Inn nearby which has been taken over by the same people.
