Corstorphine House

We arrived at 7.30pm after a very long day, travelling from France via Switzerland and England, with delayed flights and problems. All we wanted was a bed for the night after a tiring day. We hadn’t booked, but knocked on the door. Januz, who seems to do almost everything at the hotel, welcomed us kindly, then showed an available room, made the sign-in process simple, then took our cases upstairs. The room was very big, airy and light, with two windows, and en suite, table, desk, etc. Coffee, tea, etc is provided. Wifi was fine and free. The room was quiet as it faced out to the back of the building, away from the street. We wanted dinner, so popped into the bar. I thought in trepidation that it would be a bar with lots of noise and hubbub, but turns out it was just a lounge room of the hotel - perfect! We were the only guests in it and could chill, with a drink, a book and TV. Januz said we could order from the bar menu. He made an excellent omelette for me, and was accomodating about us bringing our own pre-bought salad. Breakfast next morning was standard British hotel fare, freshly prepared by Januz. It is included eggs, , coffee, etc. All fine. This was just the restful and easy stopover we needed after a huge day, before heading north. I would certainly recommend this hotel. It isn’t it in the city centre, but the city is easily accessible by bus. In fact the hotel was recommended to me at the airport by a lady who commented that hotels in the city would be a lot more expensive. This was good value indeed. Thanks Januz!
