The Stables

My daughter and her [now] husband booked The stables for their wedding. Everything was done to make this their perfect day. All the staff were friendly & efficient. Debbie the wedding co-ordinator was brilliant, ensuring nothing went wrong from early enquiry, through booking & preparation, to the day itself. The courtyard is an ideal place for guests to relax (or get away from the father of the bride speech).

We stayed overnight: the rooms are fairly basic, but the ones we had were spacious, clean & comfortable.

We stayed at the Stables as a part of a wedding party in late July. The room was incredibly cheap so I was expecting it to not be good. 

The room looked more like a student dormitory than a hotel room but I suppose that was to be expected as High Melton is a college. The room had a TV, tea and coffee making facilities and ensuite. Linens were white and appeared to be clean and the room was quite cool despite the hot summer weather.

The bathroom was quite aged but again clean. The pressure of the shower was okay but the fittings were in need of replacing. Whilst showering, the shower head kept dropping which was quite annoying.

Checking in and checking out was quick and simple. Probably the main issue was the distance between the rooms and the wedding venue, although I suppose this can't be helped.

Overall the stay was good, especially considering the price. It made life much easier following the wedding, not having to get elsewhere and with the cheap price it meant that many of the guests could stay. I would stay here again, but only if in attendance at another wedding.

This hotel will not suit all tastes but it was perfect for my needs.  The accommodation is separate from the reception/restaurant building and involves a trek from the car park involving a lot of steps. My room was on the top floor of an extended mansion (The Old Hall) and was formerly student accommodation, the rest of the estate comprising university buildings.. The room was modern and clean, well furnished and comfortable.  The price deal made it the cheapest room for miles around which made up for the small disadvantages.  The restaurant menu looked inviting and a good pint of real ale was served but as I seemed to be the only guest I caught the bus into town for somewhere more lively, the last bus returning at 11.15. The surroundings in a small village in pretty countryside are lovely and it is a good place to relax or explore the area.

We were a party of 6 who booked quite some time ago so expected to be together, On arrival we went to reception and first impressions thinking the rooms would be near reception and the bar area we thought "Nice"...after a lengthy period of checking in bear in mind only three couples checking in the receptionist didn't seem to know what she was doing and was getting very flustered. We were finally given our keys only to be told the rooms were not in that building and also to be told that the Bar & Restaurant were not open this weekend!!!!! We had all set off thinking we could eat at the restauarant before we went out and this accommodation is in the middle of nowhere, the receptionist was made aware of this but at no point gave us any suggestion or help where we could find somewhere to eat but merely said we could get a drink in the student Bar. We were then escorted by a security man to show us to our rooms, oh dear it gets worse the rooms are quite a walk down towards the university when we got there we were escorted to a big old building and take in through a side door, we were gobsmacked by what we saw on comments from three of the men in our party it was just like going back to Training college and stopping in dormatiroes we were shown round and to our astonishment we were all dotted about on separate floors... the building is eery and dated.   We were in room 54 well ive never stopped in anything like it the cabinet with the television on touched the bottom of the bed so my husband wouldn't have been able to get round the bed unless we moved something.  It was just like being on a school trip.    But wait it gets better we then had to move the cars, well you nearly needed a taxi to get back to the accommodation building then comes the Student Bar, our party eventually had 8 Adults in so off we went to start our night away "oh my god" we got to the bar area but all we were greeted with were screaming kids not students but small children screaming at the top of the voices, yes a children's party. We couldn't hear ourselves think let alone have a good catch up with friends we hadn't seen for many years.  This should have been pointed out on the booking that there would not be a adult bar open or that the restaurant would be closed it was an absolute joke we couldn't even get a sandwich in the student bar.  You really need to update your website as the place was nothing like what the website portrays and maybe some staff training in customer help and advice.  The only thing that was missing here was Manwell & Basil. Astonished is an under statement all the party of 8 were extremely upset and disapointed
