Excellent lunch today at the Wheatsheaf, lovely old country pub in glorious surroundings with friendly and welcoming staff. This was our first visit but certainly will not be our last and will definitely recommend to friends.

Well. This place was quite the find. It was just perfect for us. The location and setting is idyllic and we thoroughly enjoyed a fabulous 14km circular walk - never have I seen so much wild garlic!  Whilst we never ate there, we stopped en route for a coke at The Packhorse in South Stoke which looked wonderful. But back to The Wheatsheaf. The main building is lovely - welcoming, and warm and the staff! Rarely have we stayed somewhere and been made to feel to immediately 'wanted'. I have to give a very special mention to two people in particular - Jack who initially greeted me, who manned the bar and for whom nothing was too much trouble - sorting out a wonderful breakfast for us al fresco as it was just warm enough to do that. But also Jen. I feel we hit the jackpot staying when we did just so we could meet her, as she was covering whilst the manager was taking a well-earned holiday. What a fabulous addition she was and it was in part down to her that we loved The Wheatsheaf so much. Friendly, without being overbearing - and above all, we found her truly authentic - sincere and generous.
The food was very, very good. I have thought often of the delicious mushrooms on toast, the rhubarb compote - all manner of delicious food, using seasonal local produce. We stayed in the Wendy House so felt we had a little piece of The Wheatsheaf all to ourselves. It was comfortable and well appointed and we slept brilliantly. We made the mistake of spending the last day of our trip in Bath - we wish we'd stayed another night at the Wheatsheaf. Loved it. Do yourselves a favour and just GO!

This pub / restaurant is an absolute jewel.
For the second time, we held our works Christmas function at The Wheatsheaf.
Once again, we were not disappointed.
We were excellently looked after by James and his team.
Service was excellent, food delicious.

The Wheatsheaf combines good food with comfortable accommodation in the countryside. And this all about 20min by car from Bath (or about 1 1/2 hours walking for the fit people among us)!

The gastropub serves good traditional food and has a decent wine list. Breakfast is decent as well. In the summer the pub had a superb beer garden ...

The little cottages are comfortable and well equipped. Sure, the tv is small but why do you need to watch tv here at all. 

Lastly (and one of the reasons for us to stay here): The Wheatsheaf is dog friendly! In fact, it is so dog-friendly that the owners dogs (superb ‘working spaniels’) are freely roaming around in the restaurant!

The scenery, service and food were excellent.
Great atmosphere and very relaxing. Good value for money. Would recommend to friends and family, and would go again

Another superb meal at the Wheatsheaf , this is our " special occasion " go to pub , only because it's quite a drive for us to get there on the outskirts of Bath , but always worth the journey .We all had starters including the fabulous home made bread which is one of the reasons I love the Wheatsheaf ! One of our friends has a gluten intolerance and the gluten free bread is some of the best he has tried . The main courses both steak and fish were perfectly cooked and delicious .
The thing that makes the Wheatsheaf special apart from the beautiful setting , dog friendly relaxed atmosphere is the attention to the smallest details which make the food really special , the Processo is served on ice and the glasses are chilled to a perfect temperature . Definitley a place to go when celebrating or just after a dog walk in the beautiful strounding countryside

Absolutely fabulous food and so dog friendly. We had a lovely three course lunch which was excellent and good value at £29.50. We had a hake main that was absolutely sublime. Made to feel that dining with dogs is quite natural and normal. This place is doing everything right. Highly recommended.

This place is well worth staying at. It is cosy and the staff are very friendly. It is very peaceful, clean and the food is very good. We stayed for three nights and will be coming back. The views are outstanding. The food is fresh, the amenities in the rooms are great to and love the fresh baked biscuits each day. 

Our stay was fantastic, the Wendy House was perfect for us with modern facilities and the biggest, most comfortable bed. Towels, robes and slippers all provided and the white company products in the bathroom were lovely. 
An iron and a hair drier are available in the room as well as a TV and radio. There’s also a little fridge in the room if you want to take any of your own food or drink to enjoy during the stay.
The setting in the countryside is beautiful and peaceful. Breakfast is included and served at the pub with multiple choices and newspapers are available at the weekend. The atmosphere is very relaxed and Lauren was super helpful with plenty of information and advice during our stay. 

Tip for light sleepers - take an eye mask as the blinds are not black out. 

We are staying at the beautiful Week cottage on Airbnb and after meeting the super host Paul we all walked across the fields to the special pub and restaurant. The atmosphere was awesome and the food options excellent. I went for a wild mushroom tarte with salad and chips so delicious 😋 pudding was dark chocolate and Guinness pie and totally delicious. 
Highly recommended to all.
