Old Posting House

The rooms are located on the floor above the public bar and eating areas.  You can book an evening meal if required.  The room was quiet, clean and comfortable with no disturbance.  Nice breakfast served by friendly staff.

We had a lovely weekend stay at this country pub with rooms. The owners are lovely and very friendly and welcoming. Its a dog friendly place, so for us, that was perfect. Our room (room 2) was on the ground floor and had a door leading out to the garden, great if you have a dog. The room was a good size and very comfortable, with tea and coffee making facilities, tv and a hairdryer. The king sized bed was good and the bathroom was lovely. We ate dinner and breakfast here both days and the food was great, and the potions were huge.We're looking forward to a return trip.

We've just returned from having a weekend break at The Old Posting House, and it was great. We took our dog and we were made very welcome. We had room 2 which was lovely, and perfect for dogs. The bed was a comfortable king size bed, and there was plenty of room for 2 people and a dog. The bathroom was also a good size, and the shower is great. 
The food here is wonderful and plentiful. We ate here both nights, and thoroughly enjoyed the food. We were able to take our dog with us into the bar area while we had dinner and breakfast. The owners, Nicola and Terry are so friendly and helpful, and nothing is too much trouble. We wouldn't hesitate to go back.



Great service, very clean, lovely breakfast !

This pub/Hotel was fantastic, Nicola the host could not do enough to make you feel more welcome and at home, the foods amazing! the room was so clean and comfortable and had everything you could need.  The breakfast was also amazing.  If we do go to this area again i would not hesitate at returning, and also would encourage anyone who is staying in the area to try get booked in there, or even book a meal or Sunday Roast.

This was our second stay at this lovely Inn. A very warm welcome from the hosts. Lovely dog friendly bedroom with access to outside. Immaculately clean and very comfortable.  Enjoyed the food in the bar as well as the beer and wine. The pie was exceptional. Great breakfast with plentiful items in the full English breakfast.  Handy parking even with a sheep trailer!. Hope to be back next year. Highly recommended.  Thank you.

Stayed for one night at this charming country inn. The owners were very welcoming and friendly, and offered fantastic hospitality. Quaint rooms that were fresh and clean and very comfortable. Modern updated bathrooms with great water pressure in the shower! Food was fantastic and the whole experience was comfortable and welcoming after a long day on the road.

Friendly servers/hosts and freshly cooked food to order.  This place is a hidden gem- so close to Cockermouth. 
I would definitely recommend this place! 
The menu is full of a variety of dishes to suit all tastes.  Everything is freshly made with quality ingredients and this is reflected in the taste.  
5 of us had delicious main meals and desserts.  We will definitely return.

Charming country inn with great service and comfortable rooms

Fantastic!

We booked 2 rooms here for 3 nights and found the place to be better than advertised. The rooms were well appointed and very clean.  We found the beds comfortable and the rooms were quiet.  Nicola and Terry were very nice hosts and took care of any requests we had.  The breakfast options we very good and I had the Full English on all 3 days and it was consistent, hot and very tasty.  We had dinner here the first night we stayed and I loved the Steak & Ale pie.  Great serving size and delicious.  My wife had one of the specials from the board, the Pork & Apple burger, it was very good. I had a bite for myself.  The flavour just popped in your mouth.  
Lots of parking here and separate entrance for residents which was nice.  We took a walk around the area and it is so picturesque.  Nice seeing all the sheep in the fields. Can't say enough about the place... the bar area is perfect, warm and cozy.  The Guinness was nice and cold :)

Great 3 night stay at the Old Posting House

We stayed at the old posting house for our annual visit to Keswick where we spread the father in law's ashes. Yet again another great visit . All the staff were really nice,polite and helpful ,without being over bearing . The rooms were,modern ,clean and spacious . The food at night was great . We eat in the bar as our two dogs were with us,and they're allowed in the bar. Really goid quality food,well cooked,full of flavour ,decent portions and a good price . Breakfast was exactly the same too. Will definitely be back again and staying here next year .

Great stay again

Staying at a property nearby, we visited TOPH for a meal last Monday evening. Easy to park, and a nice, clean, open impression on entry. Staff were very friendly and the food, while not gourmet standard, was a solid 9/10 for a pub restaurant. Portions were a good size and, I felt, good value for money. For two of us, three courses and two rounds of drinks was £69. Would certainly recommend.

Nothing 2nd class about The Old Posting House!

We chose the Old Posting House for our weekend break in the lake district and we chose extremely well!!  What a delight.

We were graciously welcomed by the owners Terry and Nicola, who demonstrated diligence and efficiency  in striving to make their little place just perfect.

Everything from check in to check out was perfect,  with well appointed quiet rooms, a cosy and comfortable atmosphere and wonderful food.  Covid restrictions were followed well and everything was spick and span.

The bed was very comfortable, with good quality bed linen, lovely fresh fluffy towels, and an excellent power shower.

The food here is very very good and over the weekend we had various starters, mains and desserts, each better than the previous!

It also appeared that nothing was a problem to the hosts.  One of the nights they had a special on of pork fillet with a sweet and sour sauce, and on the menu a chicken dish with blue cheese and leek sauce. I asked if I could have the pork with the blue cheese sauce and was told 'Of course you can'

Everything reeked of quality in the restaurant too, from the glassware and cutlery, to the food and wine choice, ( a bottle of New Zealand Malborough at less than 20 quid, don't think Iv'e paid as little as that in any restaurant), so yes, extremely well priced. The service and food presentation was also impeccable.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Old Posting House  If you plan to visit  Cockermouth, which  is a lovely little town.
