Seven of us stayed at this lovely hotel from Friday 3rd -5th August.Our room 7 was nice and airy with a big bathroom.Bed was so comfy.Had a great sleep.The other five had a family room 8-9 which joins each other.King size bed in one and two single beds for the kids.In the morning we had a very tasty breakfast served to us by a very friendly young waitress,never got her name.The lady who owns the hotel was also very nice.We were staying as we were at the motorbikes at Brampton,couple of minutes down the road.Would definately stay here again.Only downside was ,we never got to have dinner there but we will the next time we stay.Thank you to all the staff for a wonderful stay.xx


We arrived after a long drive, pleased that the Inn was not too far from the motorway. 
The Inn was easy to find and set in wonderful countryside. There was plenty of parking, and we were offered complimentary drinks on arrival. We were made to feel very welcome, and chose to make a reservation in the restaurant that evening. 
Our room was very pleasant, the bed very comfortable with an en suite bathroom with a superb shower. 
The manager James, informed us that all the food was sourced locally as he showed us to our table. 
The quality of the food was superb, and very generous portions too. So impressed were we, that we decided to eat in the restaurant the following night as well. 
The inn proved to be a very good base to explore the remains of Hadrian’s Wall. The lady who was making up our room, took time to share her local knowledge, advising us on the best places to visit and giving us precise directions. Most helpful indeed. 
We had a wonderful stay at the Inn and will definitely visit again. Breakfast catered for all tastes. The full English cooked breakfast was superb and plentiful. 
We both really enjoyed our stay at the Golden Fleece Inn, and complement the staff and the chef, for making our visit so pleasant.

My wife and i chose the Golden Fleece  after looking for a short break on Travelzoo, it seemed to tick all the boxes with plenty of good reviews, and convent for several activities we wanted to try whilst in the area. The establishment  is easy to find with ample parking, the room we had was delightful as you can see by the photos (Junior suite)the room was spacious and the bed was very comfy. The bathroom was both large and well appointed, my only criticism would be the television was very small, however as we were there to get out and about this wasn't a problem. The food was nice with a decent choice for breakfast, the bar area was cosy with a nice stove to warm yourself after a days walk. Whilst staying here we walked to Talkin Tarn from the village of Brampton, i would recommend driving to Brampton to start the walk rather than walking straight from the Hotel. Birdoswald Fort on Hadrian's wall is also a beautiful walk only a short drive from the Hotel, we found the village of Gilsland a convent place to start your walk

I finally made a visit here after passing it on numerous occasions and wish I had done it sooner. The food was very good and served quickly. The only issue and why I have it 4 instead of 5 is the table at which we were seated. Unfortunately it was literally right next to the restaurant entrance which meant that every time the door opened a breeze would hit my back. I was also very conscious of how close people were to me and they entered and exited. Other than this I would definitely recommend it to others.

Booked a room weeks in advance for a business trip. Was 3 hours into my 5.5 hour drive up there to receive a phone call from the pub saying they had overbooked and didn’t have a room for me. They then rebooked me into a room at a b&b which had nowhere for dinner so I had to drive around to find somewhere to eat. The b&b said they would get the Golden Fleece to pay for my room because of the terrible service, a month later when my company credit card bill arrived the Golden Fleece had charged me £75!! Disgusted and when I called up about it the woman on the phone was very rude.....do not book a room here if you actually want somewhere to stay. Chances are they will give your room to someone else!
