Cracking country pub. Beer, service & food all good.

Pretty good room above the pub. Quiet and clean…it’s what we expected. Not luxury, but friendly and inviting.

A characterful village inn hotel, recently refurbished by the owners. Very friendly, relaxed welcome and service from Kayleigh & Marcus and all their staff. Room had a lovely view through the village and towards the hillside. Well appointed and very tastefully decorated ensuite room too. The bar itself is busy with a good selection and found everyone to be very friendly both in the bar and in general around the village, no-one passes you without saying "good morning". In short, very enjoyable stay and look forward to returning in the future

Really friendly staff, lovely room, good food.

We had a great time - the hosts made us feel very welcome. We requested a pack lunch which was delivered with our breakfast hamper. Extreamly good value for money and a comfortable stay in a lovely room.

A rural gem with some life about it!

The rooms have been refurbished and are nicely finished, in a contemporary style with a good sized ensuite.  The staff couldn't have been any more helpful.  The breakfast is continental, served to your room in a basket and very nice (no option for a cooked breakfast though).  Bellingham is a lovely village, lots of history and with an excellent heritage centre, a good selection of local shops, pubs and places to eat, with beautiful walks.

Newly refurbished room above a village pub.  Comfortable and clean, everything we needed for a single night stay. We were staying here before visiting Kielder Forest the next day.  It's about 10 miles or so to Kielder from here.Bellingham is a small village, but has a few pubs, cafes and shops.Easy to check in at the pub.

This is a very nice place to stay.  Everyone was pleasant, room was nice and clean and food was very good except for my lamb stew which totally bland.  It is called a country kitchen, so maybe that's the way the country folks like their lamb stew?  I would definitely go back again and recommend it to anyone.

A real gem.

In a small village in rural Northumberland but a short drive to many attractions, particularly Hadrian’s Wall. Our room was very clean and attractive and in particular the bathroom was spacious and had a wet room style shower. The style was more than we expected at a country pub. Breakfast was superb, best cooked breakfast we have had for a long time. Dinner at night was good, a reasonable menu. All meals were served by friendly and professional staff.Great value, hope to visit again. Definitely recommended.

Amazing Country Pub

We had two days at the Black Bull , the area was lovely ,nice and peaceful . The pub was lovely  clean and comfortable,and the staff could not do enough for us!! We met some lovely people from the area who were all very friendly . The village had another hotel / bar , and the black bull has the grey bull next door. The area is not far from Hexham to explore and shop. We did the Abbey which was great. Also 5 mins from our hotel was Simonsburn that had a lovely 13th century church ,which was fascinating. I wouls say that whatever you are looking for , be it a rest , or driving around the lovely country side, there is something for everyone. Oh and nearly forgot to say ,the food in the Black bull was very very good, ample breakfasts and lovely evening meals. Top marks!!

Lovely relaxing place to stay !!

Great place to stay to explore Kielder forest and water. Very pleasant staff. Room 2 very sweet little room with a fab bathroom. New (Nov) chef trying to bring in more exciting dishes and does it very well.....the food was lovely, go for something from the specials board to get away from the usual pub food.,

Worth a stay

The Black Bull is located in the quaint village of Wark on the River Tyne. A truly lovely atmosphere with walking trails along the river. The rooms are recently renovated with a large bathroom and walk-in shower. A beautiful glassed in conservatory with comfortable leather sofa and chairs provides a lovely view of the property. The dining and pub facilities are top rated. The Black Bull is a perfect location for a quiet getaway.

Wonderful Getaway

We booked The Black Bull Hotel because it was a fairly central location for exploring the Emperor Hadrian's Wall in Northumbria, England.  The hotel is located on the Tyne river in the picturesque stone village of Wark, and easily accessible from the B6318 following drives through the moors and woods.  Recently remodeled, the hotel has free parking adjacent and a welcoming bar/reception, extensive and relaxing garden, guest conservatory, and beautiful dining area.  We selected a deluxe room that included a spacious area, huge walk-in shower and modern bathroom, and a four-poster bed that was quite comfortable . . . along with the usual amenities (tea/coffee station, large flat-screen digital television, lovely furnishings.  The evening meals (if desired) are reasonably priced and substantially portioned, and served between 5:30-8:30 p.m.  The Feathered Blade of Beef with creamy mash and a gigantic dish of assorted cooked vegetables was just the right touch following a day exploring Hadrian's Wall.  If guests desire an evening  of socializing, the sister establishment---The Gray Bull pub is located next door.  Breakfast is included from 8:30-9:30 a.m. and is cooked to order ("full English") plus a selection of sweet pastries, juices, and cold or hot cereals.  Very substantial!  The Black Bull staff are friendly, efficient, and cater to the guests needs.  We will be back!  I highly recommend this establishment as good value for money---you get what you pay for!

The Emperor Would Have Approved!

Lovely hotel and staff. Stopped with family for 1 night as close to the keilder forest winter wonderland Room was great for a family and very clean Food and drink in bar was very good and resonably picedOnly small complaint was breakfast was in the conservatory. The room was done out very festive but our table was so close to the door we had to move out of the seats to let people in or out. the table was also next to a waste pipe and we could hear waste running down  while eating so a little off putting. Food was excellent at breakfast though.Over all excellent little hotel. We would stop again and kids want to go back in the summer.
