The White Mare

Great service with friendly and pleasant staff. The food was amazing and at a great price. I went for a meal with my nana and would definitely be going g back. We enjoyed the sunshine after our meal in a wonderful beer garden.

I’ve stayed at the white mare twice now.The rooms are amazing. Loads of room to walk around. The bathrooms are beautiful. We all like a soak after a day walking in the countryside. The bar staff are great. Friendly and welcoming. I love the fact you can take your dogs. Treats a on the bar for them and fresh water. The restaurant is great. Food looks amazing. I’d definitely recommend the white mare if you’re looking for a weekend getaway. Fresh air. Sea only 20 minutes drive. Scenery is amazing. Thank you Helen and staff for a wonderful time xxx

The White Mare is a peaceful, relaxing lovely place. The dining room and the bar staff were attentive, but not to invasive. The menu was great and the food was enjoyable, all the right reasons for a visit.

As the Royal Oak where I was staying was closed and in disrepair I chose to eat here as it was next door. Good choice of food and well kept beer, welcoming and friendly landlady. Friendly locals willing to chat.

Myself and my partner booked a last minute room as we were travelling back to Bristol from Scotland and needed a sleep. The staff waited there for us to collect our room key as it was quite late and showed us to a lovely deluxe double room. The room was spotless and had absolutely everything we needed! We were extremely impressed. The staff were very friendly and the continental breakfast the next morning was lovely. Lots of different options for teas/coffees and juice. We would definitely come back.

We stayed at the White Mare Hotel for a long weekend, we where touring around Cumbria and the Lake District so this Hotel was the perfect Base for us 
This place is amazing, our room was beautiful including everything you could possibly need during your stay, hair dryer, iron ironing board etc. stunning king size bed with the highest quality white Egyptian cotton bedding we had the best sleep ever
The food was fantastic and plentiful, the staff are all very friendly and polite and nothing was too much trouble 
I will definitely be returning to The White Mare, I highly recommend

Stayed for a long weekend, nice room recently refurbished by the look of it outside needs a bit of TLC  but overall a great place….  Shame about the smokers in the next room, it did spoil our stay a little as the smell leached into our room. We ate in the restaurant on our first night, lovely food and well priced, our grandsons meal was a pound and very good too.
Breakfast was top notch and filling. The staff were all very nice and helpful.
I would highly recommend and will stay again….. hope the smokers don’t 😎

Lovely meal experience

Lovely is the right word to describe The White Mare.

Good village hotel

We’ve literally just came from the White Mare now. We live nearby so we just came down for a bite to eat. The lady behind the bar was absolutely lovely and very welcoming and everything was quick. But the food was awful. Chicken in the Thai green curry (which is neither Thai, green, or a curry and tasteless) was rubbery and my dad’s Mediterranean tart was burned to a crisp. Again though the lady was really lovely and apologetic and offered replacements for the food we sent back, and didn’t charge us for it.

My dad has visited many times before though and said the food was good (other dishes). But that off night was a very very bad off night and avoid the dishes I mentioned.

Thanks to the lady behind the bar!
