Chalet Aelpli Bed and Breakfast

Staying at this chalet was the best decision I've made for our trip to Switzerland. When we first arrived in Wengen station, it was getting dark. So we walked about 30 minutes to get to the chalet. By the time we reached there, it was dark. The chalet was up a hill. The host greeted us and helped us with our bags to the chalet, which was just behind the host's house. And Wow! It was the coziest place to be on a cold October night. We expected to share the kitchen, bathroom, dining room with other guests but for our 2 nights there, we had the whole house to ourselves. We got the room upstairs and the bed was so comfortable, we slept like a baby. The next morning, we woke up to the spectacular view of the gigantic Lauterbrunnen valley walls and Wengen village from the bedroom window. When we got down for breakfast, everything was laid out nicely by the host; milk, cereals, fresh bread, fresh cheeses, home made jems and coffee from the Nespresso machine. All these while listening to the instrumental background music from the CD player set up by the host. We felt like guests in a 5-star hotel dining room, without other guests. We felt special. The chalet house itself tells a story on its own. Rustic wooden doors and beams on the ceilings, classic old phone hanging on the wall, it has a character. The host did an excellent job in choosing the furnitures and color-coordinating them, I initially thought she's an interior designer. This is the kind of hidden gem that travellers should look for in their trip, instead of the common hotel-next-to-the-train-station and supermarket accommodation that the tour groups are staying at.
