Such a nice and lovely experience. All is the best and nicest host. And great food.
The place is quite close to attractions like Minneriya, Lion Rock etc.

We really enjoyed our stay at Lal HomeStay and enjoyed the company and happy and heartloving vibes.

Conveniently situated close to Sigiriya, you will find Lal Homestay. A great place to stay for relaxing and      as a base to Lions Rock and Dambulla. Rooms are spacious, clean and have a small terrace. In the morning a sumptuous breakfast is served. Best of all is the owner Lal and his wife. They create a welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel to be at home. They actually spoil you. They are the best.

Lal and his wife made sure that we felt welcome. A clean room with air conditioning make sure of a good nights sleep, and the breakfast that they make for you was great, and it’s plenty😀
Will definitely recommend if you’re traveling Sri Lanka. Close to the lions rock and pidurangala

Lal is so experienced he knows what you might want before you do. They both attend to every detail. 

The family room we stayed in was modest, but spotless, as was the linen and bathroom and therefore perfect. Even the AC was quiet! 

The food fantastic…. After a few  weeks of none stop Sri Lankan curries as we have travelled the country,  Mrs Lal still came up with something new we had not seen/tasted before. 

If anyone knows of a better set of hosts in Sri Lanka than here, please let me know…

Stayed at Lal for 3 days. The family is so welcoming and nice! The food there is great, you get the chance to taste some real local food. The beds and rooms are clean and big. They also have mosqitos-nets over the bed. I really recommend this place!

Before I had even arrived, Lal went out of his way to make sure I was sorted with transport and if there was anything I needed. When I arrived, I got the most wonderful welcome from the whole family and a pot of coffee brought to my verandah.
The room is large--enough space for three--with comfy beds with mosquito nets. There is a fan and optional AC and hot water in the attached bathroom.
Everything is spotless and the atmosphere in the tropical garden is magical.
True warmth and hospitality. Definitely my go to place when I return to Sigiriya.

Lal and his family made us feel so welcome and at home throughout our entire stay. The food, both dinner and breakfast, was traditional and absolutely amazing. The rooms had anything you might need, and if they didn’t you can just ask the family and they will do everything to help. Some of the sweetest and warmest people we have met on our trip, and we wish we could stay for much longer! Absolutely would recommend to everyone traveling the area, you could not ask for a better host. 

Stayed here for 2 nights on our trip around. Clean, central for rock and very friendly and helpful. Delicious huge breakfast served by Mrs Lal and we had dinner there both evenings. Would highly recommend doing this as Mrs Lal is an excellent cook.  Wi-Fi good.  Mr Lal was very friendly and gave us good suggestions of things to do and see.

The good: A great experience. I stayed at Lal’s for two months while hiking in the Sigiriya area.  The room: non-smoking rooms that smell fresh and clean, spotless, lots of hot water in the shower, windows that open wide, curtains that really keep the sun out, a strong adjustable ceiling fan, quiet, comfortable bed with clean sheets and pillows and a great place to come back to after a long hike. The location:  on Sigiriya Road, back far enough from the road so that the road noise was not a problem, located in a beautiful garden with lots of birds and monitor lizards, lots of flowers and trees and occasionally elephants attempting to trespass and monkey raids that are a serious business!! The bus to neighbouring villages will stop for you in front of the homestay. Close to small shops where you can buy fruit, vegetables, milk and everything else. Within walking distance to the small Sigiriya village with many restaurants and ATMs. The Hosts: Lal and Nalani are generous and kind people, there is nothing they can’t help you with, a bicycle box, a bus, a ride to the airport in Colombo, laundry, storage of baggage - they are truly helpful people. The food: truly traditional Sri Lankan food prepared by Nalani, you can watch it being made using age old preparation techniques, the variety is mind boggling with some very rare and unusual dishes such as cashew curry all served on a sheltered porch the surrounds the buildings. The rooms at the front have fiber optic internet connection 24/7 and very fast (May 2023) and there are plenty of chairs and table to do your online work. 
The bad: a reading light next to the bed would be a great addition. The back rooms could use a stronger internet connection.
Conclusion: this place has everything and most importantly Lal and Nalani are helpful  and sincere people.

The best place in Sri Lanka for us, we received a super warm welcoming with juice from the garden, by Lal and his wife naly. we felt home tstraight away, 
The food was the most amazing food that we had in Sri Lanka. Nale has gold in her hands that's sure.
She shown us and explains us how she cooked. Lal is just an amazing human he helps us a lot and came to pick up us with his motorbike when we came down from the piturangala mountain. 
The room, the place was super clean and super comfy. we even share some arrack together amazing moment.. after 3 days we had to go and very kindly Lal drop us at bus station with his car.
Well I recommend  1000 % amazing souvenirs, stuti, thank you Merci and  hello to Mac (the doggy) next time Mac in mybackpack ahahaha

Super Lal Host

A home away from home! Lal and his family were so welcoming and made my stay in Sigiriya very memorable. First of all, the room is super clean and simple yet bright. The food is AMAZING, if you just came here for the food I wouldn’t blame you. They made sure that I tried different food at every meal, so much variety and so full of flavour. They even let me come into the kitchen to watch and learn the recipes when I told them I loved cooking. Lal helped me organised all the activities during my stay including: Kaudulla NP safari, tour of the Sigiriya and Pidurangala rock, ayruvedic massage, cooking class and tour of local village. He even drove me to Anaradhapura and gave me a tour around all the different sites there. All for very reasonable prices. He also took my clothes to the laundry place for me. Overall the best experience I could have hoped for and 100% recommend staying here! Lal is also very happy to organise your travels to other places in Sri Lanka and will definitely make sure you get the best prices if you do! 

Home away from home

I spend three nights at Lal's place, it's amazing! I had a wonderful room, very clean, with terrace in front. Lal and his wife are so nice people, very helpful and friendly. The breakfast is amazing and the dinner is (maybe) even better! I had the best rice & curry there and I spend four weeks at Sri Lanka.

Perfect place to stay in Sigiriya

We visited Lal with our young family recently.  The owners really treated us like part of the family, and were fantastic with our children.

The rooms are spacious and comfortable and we found the place very relaxing.

The owners are lovely and cooked us some wonderful meals.  They went to extra effort to go and get ingredients for some foods we had not yet tasted in Sri Lanka, such as Banana Flower and Jackfruit.

The owners gave us a lot of help, and assisted us in booking Tuk Tuks and a drivers (the driver wasn't the cheapest, so probably worth shopping around).

Overall, this was a great value stay (for both accommodation and food).  We also loved visiting Sigirya.  Well worth the UNESCO entry fee, which is more than many Sri Lankan attractions, but is well looked after and not covered in garbage.
