Generous, welcoming host. Raymond is self-teaching himself English and German, he's interesting and funny, spend time talking to him it will enrich your stay. Granny is just gorgeous. Great location. Immaculately clean rooms, cold water only great water pressure and so humid you'd be made to want hot water. Great location, close to beach and easy place to base yourself to explore local area by bike, scooter, bus or tuk tuk. 

My brother, myself and a Sri Lankan friend enjoyed a stay here for 4 days over the New Year. It had only been running for about 2 weeks when we stayed, so we were some of the first guests. Sun Beach House is owned and run by Raymond, who lives next door with his lovely mother :) 

A fantastic location, only 200m walk up a side path to Weligama beach, where the fishing boats go out and come in, a great spot for swimming that's at the other end from the surfing school stretch. We stayed in the upstairs rooms (2), which had comfortable beds and a welcome breeze and shade almost constantly, which isn't always easy to find in the day on this coastline. There's no aircon however we found we didn't need it, floor fans were fine. Everything was clean and the beds/linen were immaculate. 

A cosy little outdoor sitting area outside the rooms was really relaxing. Shared communal kitchen and bathroom downstairs. The shower currently has only cold water however changes and improvements are being made as quickly as possible so hot water will probably be available at some point. It's quite hot weather on this coastlline so we didn't mind cold water only. 

The wireless line was down when we were there which was going to be fixed after New Year, however if you have a laptop, Raymond has a USB modem that can be used. If you make a request the day before, 

Raymond can provide breakfast (he makes a good Sri Lankan/cheese omelette!) or a Sri Lankan rice and curry for lunch etc, for a reasonable price. 

A prime location to access Weligama beach, a friendly helpful owner, and very affordable. We'd stay here again and we recommend it to any travellers (solo, small groups of friends or family etc) who are happy with clean comfy rooms, a nice breeze & all necessary facilities without unnecessary extras. If you're there for the beach, this is a great choice to stay :)
