The Beach Villa guest house

Spent last 2 nights over there with a group of friends. It is well located, very clean and the new villa is definitely on the top of the Sri Lankan standard of B&B. Also the proprietor is a very cool guy.

Great place to stay in Negombo 

+ Nice welcome with a welcomes drink 
+ Mother is a good cook, it was the best curry we tasted in 3 weeks (Only the portions were small, it was enough not to be hungry) 
+ The a/c was working well 
+ Negombo is a nicer city to spend after or before to go to the airport.
+ Wifi was good working (On the ground level, were our room was located)
+ For Sri Lanka the price is average / good. Sri Lanka is more expensive with hotel rates as Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Indonesia etc.

- Bathroom was old 
- Very thin mattress (Not good for people with back problems or if you like sleeping on the side) 
- The owner calculated his own tip (10%) It's common in Sri Lanka to do that, approx 40% of the hotels did it during our three week trip. But still I think you should not charge the tip, it should be earned.

During the stay at the hotel the owner tries to sell you tours for your trip in Sri Lanka. It seems if you are interested to do some tour from his company he is more interested in you. If you are not interested to do a tour, he is not that interested in you.

Negombo hotel

The rooms were large and clean, but lacking mosquito nets until we asked for them. The staff are excellent and helpful, with varying degrees of English. The bathroom wasn't the cleanest which was in contrast to the rest of the place.Also the wifi didn't work.

If you are looking for a cheap place near the beach, it's fine though.

Cheap and cheerful

I stayed at this hotel twice the first time with my girlfriend for a night the room was nice and the service was good and the prices were not to bad for two people . The seconed time i stayed was for five nights on my owen . I was placed in the worst room in the hotel but was told by the owener the room would be charged to me at a lower rate of only $26 watch i felt was more then the room was worth . I was ment to be staying there six nights but on the 5th day i was told the room had been over booked and i had to leave with in 30 minuets so i did but when the room bill came i had been charged the full rate when i tried to talk carmly with the owener he got mad and behaved in a threatening way . Whilst i was there they had some troble with some Russain guests but for some reason the father blamed his daughter  and beat her vary hard on top of this i witnessed the son threaten to beat the mother . 
One of the biggest problems was the son (owen ) tried all the time to sell taxi rides every were i got the strong feeling that if you dont get trips from them thay lose interest in being helpful and get cross . On the other hand the rooms were clean and the female members of the family helpful and friendly  . The father was nice and friendly to me but he had a dark side to him like the son . If your going to use this place be prepaired to spend money and watch the bill !
