I stayed there as a local traveler and experienced a wonderful event there last November. The members of  staff are very friendly and kind. Nice food. Yumee..  :D
Full of music. They enjoy with the visitors like a family. They offered me a very good service and the location is should be the most attractive place near the town center. Love to be back there soon..

We came from a long trip from Germany to Colombo and from Colombo with the train to Kandy (over 48 hours without sleeping)  a guy picked us up from the train station and we slept in a nice room for one night.
We have eaten an good dinner and breakfast everything was clean free Wi-Fi in the lobby and the stuff was very friendly but the best is the big Terrace and amazing view over kandy...

Heshan is The King of The House!

Don't stay here it's a complete con. Turned up at 8:30pm after a full day of travelling from Ella and was told the place was closed. Contacted the manager who tried to send us to another place of his but sacked him off and found somewhere completely different on our own. Don't waste your time booking with this idiot. 

Wasn't even open

Arrived late (6pm) after checking the price on a booking website. Tuk-tuk had difficulty finding the place as listed jointly as Gem Inn II and Marley's. I expected dorm accom or a small room for the price on the website. Arrived and was told hostel/dorm part of inn was not open and I would have to stay elsewhere. I agreed but assumed advertised dorm price would be honoured. Porter asked me what price I had seen on booking, I told him $17AUD (1989LKR) and he nodded. Was taken to a room with ensuite, AC, fan and given the wifi code. All good service from the porters part. Great room overlooking the mountains (although power did cut out once or twice and wi-fi was patchy). Comfortable bed and hot shower. Agreed breakfast at 8am with porter and slept well.
Next morning breakfast of tea, toast, egg and fruits. Went back to room for a rest and relaxation day and used wi-fi to plan next days travels. Mid-morning I get a knock and am told I must change rooms to a room of $35 AUD (4000 LKR), I baulk at this and say that is not what I thought to pay. I show the porter a screenshot of the advertised price, he says that is for the dorm that isnt working. I said I know but you must still honour the price as advertised. As he does not agree to the price I decide I will leave and go downstairs to pay for the previous night. The man presents a bill for 4500LKR. I said you need to honour the advertised price if you had to move me from my chosen option. The porter gives me the phone of his boss who speaks english a lot better and tells me I should pay the room rate for where I slept. I say that is terrible business and you cant advertise one price that is not available and then charge double. He tells me after arguing with me that "if you believe in Karma you can pay what you want to and go". He then hangs up while I'm trying to explain he cant advertise a price and not honour it. I tell the porter and manager I am paying $2000 and leaving. They agree. So just be wary that the dorm section is not operating now and probably call ahead or book at the cheap rate and hope they honour the price.
