Nicoya is the ideal spot in the region as it is situated close to Sigiriya for the climbers out there and also offers an epic Jeep Safari for anyone looking to get up close with wild elephants!! I arrived around lunchtime and settled into a very comfortable airconditioned room (absolutely essential in the jungle) before departing on a jeep safari - which was an exciting adventure, to say the least. Upon my return, I had a hot shower (rooms come with fantastic ensuites) and I was delighted to learn a sumptuous feast had been prepared for this wayward traveller!! I was treated to at least 6 different local dishes ranging from meat curries to vegetable stir-fries all served with rice and followed by plates of fruit and bowls of ice cream to cool off. Bloody brilliant!!
