Apartaments Can Xel

We went to La Garrotxa and Girona - Costa Brava for a road trip with colleagues and we stayed in at Can Xel Apartments and Restaurant. We chose the place because of its proximity to volcanic natural park (less than 5 min by walk) and La Fageda de'n Jordà. We were worrisome after coronavirus strike, but the manager of the apartments told us that everything was perfectly regulated and that they took several steps to keep up the area clean and safety. Actually, it is mandatory to wear a facial mask once you are in the area, and yet it was not regulated by law when we arrived there, so it is a really good point for them. Apartments were completely clean. They supplied us with coffee capsules and bath towels. There is a free wifi connection. I worked with my laptop and I got no issues on it. There is a washer and a place to hang out the clothes to dry. It is a quiet place, surrounded by high mountains and with a huge swimming pool (there is also a small sw pool for children). But what we recommend the most is the restaurant. Even that they have a plenty of dishes, most of them are flavoured home-made food which we strongly recommend to order to experience how 'Cuina Volcanica' tastes like. The top of the rock is, undoubtedly, the nouvelle cuisine practiced by the younger chef of the family who studied in the Basque Country and worked abroad in renowned restaurants. We are four friends who love gastronomy (local and international) and after the first meal we felt in love with her cuisine. You should ask for her dishes if you come here. The cooking and food presentation remind me to the one you can experience in some Michelin-awarded restaurants. The perfect combination of several ingredients and the recommendations of local wines brings your mind to the Quique Dacosta's or Ricard Camarena's restaurants. Every sip, every bite is a unique experience of flavours, contrasts and passion for cooking that blows your mind away and lets you begging for more. Beyond any doubt, it is a must if you pass by. Beyond any doubt, you need to try it.
