Portal De Numancia

My husband and I decided to stay one night in this guest house on our way to Soria because of the recommendations on Booking. We were not disappointed, Positive points: 1) the location: only 10 minutes away from the city of Soria, in the very quiet village of Garray where two rivers intersect: the Douro and the Tera. Lovely setting. It is also the site for the ancient Celtiberian settlement of Numantia (Numancia in Spanish), whose remains are located on a hill called Cerro de la Muela in Garray. 2) Constantino, the owner, is really friendly and helpful. He was expecting us so he came out to receive us and help with the bags. 3) The house itself is very modern inside with all the amenities of a good hotel: the new cards with chips are read just by waving it in front of the handle; the free Wi-Fi and our private bathrooms which featured a hydro massage shower and good quality toiletries were a plus.The modern sink totally in glass was very original. Very comfortable large double bed. 4) For 5 euros per person we had breakfast prepared by Constantino. Good espresso coffee, tasty local produce--cheeses, ham and chorizo, jams, bread, juice. Worth trying it. All in all a perfect B&B for our purposes. On the negative side: Our GPS had problems finding the place since the side street it is on was not very visible at first. And next to a Piensos Factory (animal feed) . Not a pretty sight but once you get into the neighbourhood, the homes around the B&B are all beautiful second homes. Also Constatino does not speak English. Not a problem for us, since we speak Spanish. A very enjoyable experience for us. I most certainly recommend Portal de Numancia.
