Hotel Al Khozama

I arrived at the Al Khozama hotel just as the COVID-19 outbreak gained momentum. I landed in the small hours at Riyadh airport and was through Immigration and Customs by 5 am. The hotel Limo was waiting, and the polite and well-dressed driver whisked me to the hotel without incident. For the first four days life was normal and I enjoyed breakfast and dinner in the restaurant, as well as coffee in the lobby after working in my company’s office. Within four days though flights in and out of KSA were stopped, and a few days later we were placed in lockdown and eventually a 24 curfew. The restaurant and coffee shop were closed and I was restricted to the hotel. I had planned a three month stay, but not with this level of constraint and restriction. Despite the restriction on movement the staff have been outstanding, and the stay has been largely enjoyable. The staff who service the room are efficient and friendly while having to work around a static resident. Room service is prompt, it’s good food and relatively good value for a hotel of this standard. The hotel is not 100% perfect (it’s a little old-fashioned and laundry charges are exorbitant) but having to stay here for extended periods I would say I have been extremely well treated, enjoyed my stay (given the circumstances) and would unreservedly recommend it and return again myself. I will be stuck here for a while longer, but the friendly and attentive service has made difficult circumstances far more bearable and enjoyable. Thanks to all the staff who have made the difference.
