85 reviewsMy son said Ciastel was the nicest place we have ever stayed. Our family chose one of the farm apartments; it was thoughtfully designed, was very comfortable, and best of all, had a lovely view from the living area windows and each bedroom window. We slept to the sound of distant cowbells. The half board option was a good value and was delicious, including a four course dinner prepared with food produced on the farm or the area, and a hearty and delicious homemade breakfast. Avni, our server, was delightful. Michael speaks English well and he was very willing answer any questions about our trip or the historic home that has been in the family for generations. He was available sometimes in person, and consistently through WhatsApp. The place was prettier than the pictures. Tips: There is a bus stop not far down the hill from Ciastel, and St. Vigil is a short walk on the sidewalk along the highway, but a car was handy. We underestimated drive times to some of the "must see" hikes. Michael helped us some lovely hikes that were more accessible and less overcrowded. We were not disappointed.
