B&B da Peppe

I have been one day at the B&B of Antonella and Franco, which is called Da Peppe. Peppe is Antonella's father, and owns a very good restaurant named after him, just behind the corner, in the heart of Rotonda. This B&B epitomizes the concept of hospitality, which is something else than tourism. Tourism is a North European concept, spread also in North and Central Italy. In Basilicata, rather, there is hospitality, which involves a familiarity, a personal relation of welcoming kindness. The highlight of this B&B is the breakfast that Antonella prepares with her own hands. For instance, the eggs that you will eat are made by animals which are fed three times a day with love and good food. Contrary to the eggs from your favourite supermarket, they come from animals which are not treated with antibiotics or toxic fodder. For instance, you will choose among different types of jam that Antonella prepares with her own hands, from fruits of her trees. No pesticides here. At breakfast, you will eat together with other guests, and you will share a lovely family atmosphere. If by any chance you are depressed because life is treating you poorly, you will no doubt find that Antonella's guests and food will work as an antidote against your temporary loneliness and sadness. There is a garden in the backyard, with one little lovely dog and a few cats who will happily share the garden space with you. The rooms are clean and very well taken care of. Family love rules here.
