B&B very simple but with spectacular views of the Bay of Poets, it's worth it... very close to the center and out of the chaos... great location. if we want to find a point in its favor are the x steps to get there since we have a 4 year old baby and my husband had to carry him in his arms because he fell asleep... breakfast at the jonny bar the girls without smile and crap... want to work zero you asked for a bottle of water of course to pay, they didn't have it in the fridge... for the rest of the great place... thank you Roberto

Family and friends vacation

Thank you for this wonderful family stay! This b&b is very nice: warm welcome, breathtaking views of the bay and the castle, Lido beach 5 minutes walk away. What more can we ask for! And the hotel, Roberto, is adorable. Breakfast is on the terrace 2 minutes walk away, in the shade, just in front of the marina. Matta was very spacious and sufficient for us and our 3 children as a double bedroom bed and two simple beds. We will be happy to return to Gatta. Thank you Roberto!

What a lovely stay in Lerici.

I would have liked to have written this review directly at BAR JOHNNY, but unfortunately it is not present on TripAdvisor and so I do it at this location. I start by saying that La MattaGatta is a very nice, nice, clean place, with spacious rooms and a fantastic, quiet and quiet location but taking a few steps we find ourselves in the middle of the village. Maybe it is a little dated and would need some small care and maintenance work (for example, electric suction) but it has a very high quality price, perhaps one of the best in Lerici. I say that the problem we encountered was the lack of space.

Too much bed and too little breakfast

Loved staying at La MattaGatta. Roberto is a charming host and the room we booked was great and with an awesome view of the bay. Would definitely recommend this quirky b&b and would happily stay there again. Mark

Great place in an amazing town

Located 2 steps from the waterfront, it is an excellent B&B, with Mr. Roberto and family always available and very kind. We had the room that looked inwards, there was no view of the Gulf of Poets, but for the rest everything perfect, excellent level of cleanliness, beautiful furnishings, comfortable bed and super bathroom. WI-FI functioning and quiet, ideal for a weekend of relaxation. For breakfast the B&B is convened with a bar 2 minutes walk away (The name of the bar, as well as the WI-FI key and other info you find them written on the board in the atrium of the ground floor rooms. A great place, absolutely recommended. Bell atmosphere, absolutely recommended

Look at the negative reviews even from four years ago and the problems are the same as I found -- malfunctions in the bathroom, closet cleaning, breakfast at the bar, etc.

The price-performance ratio is quite high.

This charming house is up some steps from the sea front. There are only three letting rooms, which are all of good size. The two at the front have full sea views; the one at the back looks out at a beautiful palm tree in the garden, and its large bathroom has a sea view.
Roberto the host is charming and helpful (and speaks English if you need that). Breakfast is by arrangement with a delightful cafe near the bottom of the steps.
For those with mobility 'issues', note that there are 56 steps up from the town and then 28 inside the house.
Lerici is a fantastic little place; last week, there were lots of tourists, but 99% were Italian, and the atmosphere was lovely.
You can go to the Cinque Terre by boat.
It takes about an hour to drive to Lerici from Pisa airport, or you can go by train to La Spezia and take a half-hour bus ride.
Lucca is gorgeous, and only about half an hour away by road.

Great place to stay

The B&B consists of three rooms, two with balcony and one without, and is accessed via a typical staircase carriageway. The matta cat is in fact placed slightly high up, in the center, just above the portico, in a beautiful panoramic position from which you can admire the famous Gulf of Poets. Me and my wife, since we booked below, we stayed in the Bizet room which, although it may not have the balcony, is spacious and with an am bathroom with the window on the staircase. In fact, we found ourselves well and a few small sins were compensated by the tranquility of the place, by the convenience of the location (from the B&B you can get to the beaches in 5 minutes and the main services - the supermarket, the cat's table, so we can get back to the bar, so we have a full-fledged bathroom, so - because, for example, if you want to go to the dining room and take a bathroom, we recommend that you go to the dining room, but if you want to go to take a few minutes

Great location, privacy and tranquility.

The charming and peculiar name first captured our attention.  We booked the room at La MattaGatta for the weekend of the annual LerICYFF GroupCycling event in Piazza Garibaldi, this charming B&B will make us want to come back to stay here on our next annual visit to Lerici. 
This is a quintessential Bed&Breakfast, family-operated with three rooms in total, all named with typical cat-names (of course).  The room we had overlooked the harbour above Piazza Garibaldi, with a wonderful view of the castle and surrounding scenery which we could take-in comfortably seated on the awning-covered balcony.
Like all places in Liguria, "stairs" is a characteristic key-word, the B&B is located along a pedestrian walkway that rises from the main piazza and harbour, a short 5-min walk uphill.  Access to the B&B from the main road is also along this route, which is a bit challenging if one has heavy bags.  Pack lightly.  There is remotely-located parking available at reduced rates.  Breakfast is served at a cafe with outdoor seating in the piazza at the bottom of the walkway, but the owner has provided a Nespresso machine in the room for that first espresso coffee of the day, which for us was a win-over!
The rooms features a small refrigerator and air-conditioning, it is clean and reasonably spacious (especially for typical Liguria accommodations).  Super quiet at night.  And of course the owners are super-friendly.
Highly recommended.

The quintessential B&B

When we arrived at the Mattagatta by chance, we spent a very good night there. Roberto's reception is in French and very friendly. To get there, you have to climb a few dozen steps from the city centre or try your luck by car (not simple and without real parking nearby). The house is beautiful, surrounded by a beautiful garden. It was almost complete so we had a double room with no sea view, but large, beautiful and clean, with all the comforts. Everyone has their breakfast in their room, but it's right. In short, a good small address, not too expensive (80 euros) in a charming city.
