72 reviewsOur three nights at La Tana dell’Istrice were a highlight of a garden tour we took in June. It’s a lovely place to stay - with quiet rooms, comfortable beds and good food - and staying here is like staying with friends in their home, rather than in a hotel. Sergio Mottura is a welcoming host and a great character, generous with wine tastings and always happy to talk about his excellent wines and the turmoil of Italian politics. His wife, Alessandra and their son Sebastiano are equally welcoming and Sebastiano took us down into the cellars which extend right under the village square. The hotel is a lovely old house, on a pretty, quiet, historic village square and owned by the Mottura family for more than 80 years. We strongly recommend a few nights here; it’s a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
